So who own the rights to David Letterman late night run from 1982- 2015. Right now Antenna TV is airing reruns of the Johnny Carson Tonight Show, love to see the same thing with David Letterman's shows. Probably have to get seperate deals for Late Night and the Late Show, though Letterman was able to use clips of Late Night in his later years, are they all under the same umbella? Late Night was produced by Carson production at least in the early years, so maybe those that has the rights to the Carson Tonight Show, has those rights. If I ran Antenna TV or MeTV, I tried to get those rights.

Wouldn't NBC own the 1982-1993 "Late Night with DL" episodes while CBS would own the 1993-2015 "Late Show with DL" era?

Letterman owns the CBS era shows as they were under his Worldwide Pants, just as Conan has the rights to Late Night thanks to Conaco. For Dave's NBC show i'm not sure.

Co-Producers of the Late Show was Worldwide Pants (Letterman's production company) and CBS. Late Night was produced by Carson Productions and NBC, with Worldwide Pants coming into the fold during the last few seasons of his run.
Though Late Night-era Letterman might be too cool for MeTV or AntennaTV.

I thought I saw a lot of old Late Night content start to show up on his CBS show toward the end, so I presumed the rights had kinda been worked out to give Letterman more access to that old material...... but possibly not? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

He uploads full episodes and compilations. If they Letterman people need something, they go to him. He’s got stuff they don’t.

He actually got those missing ones last year and now has the complete collection. Side note, he also has all but two issues of Village Voice ever printed. I had an extra copy of one that was missing (I had an article in it) and he turned it down as then it would make the final missing issue from 30+ years ago more of a hassle than it's worth. Giller's a great, great dude.

Here's the absolute question: Who owns the rights to his 1980 NBC Daytime show. I know it was a gigantic flop, but I have to imagine that Giler has off-air copies, but who has the Studio Master, if they even still exist.

It’s how he was able to take a lot of his Late Night bits to Late Show, he did them on the morning show first.
