Have you ever wanted to reenact on the tabletop with friends the events of the Alien movies? Have you ever wanted to be Ash and try and bring a creature back to earth? Then Nemesis is the game for you and it is so good.
We had a game session over the weekend, it's a semi co-op board game where you wake up on the spaceship Nemesis with things going wrong. You can be either a Scout, Captain, Mechanic, Scientist, Soldier or Pilot and you each get secret objectives which can range from get the ship back to earth or to destroy all the eggs in the nest. The spaceship has numerous hazards including faulty rooms, slime, fires and of course the Aliens. Oh yes I keep referring to them as Aliens when there official title is Intruders (copyright : ) ) In our session the captain, pilot and solider went around trying to either fix the ship or kill the intruders (half of this they were successful with the other half not so much).
The Mechanic needed to make sure it was heading to earth and he was going back to hibernation. Meanwhile I as the scientist was trying to send a signal and the destroy the ship. As you can imagine this kind of clashed with what the mechanic wanted. Cue me arming the self destruct and then closing a door so the mechanic can't get to the room and then heading for the escape pod. Only for the Mechanic to blow up the door and deactivate the self-destruct. So my scientist tries to remotely activate the self destruct again only for an intruder larva to burst out of my chest killing me, meanwhile the mechanic heads to hibernation only to be attacked by several intruders as everyone else is dead.
The great thing about this game is it plays out exactly like a movie, no one truly trusts what anyone else is doing, then an intruder shows up people panic and run away. or try and fight it. If you die your body can be examined by others for an alien weakness. The Queen Intruder is not to be messed with and it's so atmospheric.
If you enjoy the Alien films I would really recommend finding this game and giving it a go with your friends.
Anyone else played this?
