Just ‘finished’ this game. I say finished in the sense that I’ve completed all of the main odyssey quests and the Atlantis stuff but goddam. 61 hours in and I probably could have gotten another 20 out of it with all the side quests etc
I mean that’s just too much content I think. Don’t get me wrong I actually never really got bored with it so far enough but I think if I had forced myself to do all the side quests I would have ended up resenting the game. Course that’s because I still have a backlog of over 30 games (Down from 90 odds that time last year so progress) so maybe if I didn’t have that would have done all the side quests....I’m just glad I didn’t buy the DLC lol

Honestly, I'd love for Ubisoft to make a Templars Order game. Despite the games trying to make a narrative attempt at how equality must be made when it comes to the alien technology, it's far too easy to just go "Assassins Good, Templars Bad" due to both the obvious fact you always play as assassins and the sheer quantity of contemptuous scumbags that flock to the Order because the idea of ruling humanity naturally brings out the worst.
Stylistically, it would be different, so obviously, it'll never happen.

If you haven't tried Origins/Odyssey, I'd definitely recommend it. It was a weird transition for me as someone who loved the old style AC games but within an hour, I started loving the new gameplay style. I do prefer Origins mainly because the story and world are just more interesting/breaktaking. I love Greece but you can't beat exploring Ancient Egypt. Odyssey also felt a little long at times but I enjoyed the story. I just wish some of the side quests carried a little more significance.

It was a weird transition for me as someone who loved the old style AC games but within an hour I would agree but for a different reason. I played AC 2 & 4 and thought they were good but they the series never grabbed a hold of me totally and I skipped quite a few and wasn’t going to go back into the franchise until I kept on hearing about the change in direction Now though with the change in direction, yeah I’ll probably be more likely to pick up the next one

Stuff where you clearly aren't at the level but you try anyway is a decent challenge and feels rewarding when you do accomplish something

I loved AC2 and Black Flag the most from the previous style, but I'm playing Odyssey right at the moment and beat Origins, and the new style formula works for me as well. Thought, I'm about 57 hours into Odyssey and level 48 and I'm only up to chapter 4 in the main story and haven't done any of the Atlantis stuff and only begun the cult stuff. I do think, even more than Origins, it's a game that really plays havoc with an OCD gamer. I'm having to realise that I can't and don't have to do every quest, which helps, but there's so much potential stuff to do in the game it's like I have to ignore a bunch of it or I'll be here until Christmas
