Its become well known that wwe had annual king of the ring tournaments from the mid 80s to early 90s before adopting it to PPV. Were these events filmed? It would be cool to see this as a hidden gem style content.

During Harley Race's tribute they showed him defeating Pedro Morales in the finals of the 1986 KOTR. But I don't know how many were taped. I was at the 1989 KOTR and I didn't see any cameras.

Also they filmed the random draw for spots in the '86 tournament. (I have to guess this only aired in New England somehow someway, maybe on NESN where they would regularly air WWF stuff in the 1980s.) www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPruAUEWL8U

Since it was syndicated, it had market specific segments, so if you were watching somewhere outside of the area where that event was happening, you got a different segment promoting a show in your area (or a generic interview with a wrestler if you didn't have any upcoming events).

I love the golf carts they used to bring the wrestlers out. The forerunners to those ring carts they used in WrestleManias 3 and 6.

I’ve seen fan cam footage from the 1991 King of the Ring years ago. Don’t know if there’s anything officially filmed from it.

I've always been intrigued by the original 1985 KOTR due to it being an early example of face vs face/heel vs heel in the national WWF. They rarely did that in that era. You had Brunzell vs Tito Santana and then a final of Muraco vs. Iron Sheik.
