For something that used to be my favorite franchise I find it fascinating and how I see this news and I'm like "meh I'll wait and see"

Hell yes. RE7 was fantastic. Don’t really get what/why Ethan has to do with anything, his story seemed pretty self contained.

Honestly, I would be really happy to see First person be given another shot and I like how it sounds like the version of RE4 that got scrapped but I doubt this is real. For one, I don't see Ethan returning, even though I think his character is underrated, what reason does he have for coming back? He found his wife and went home, story done. Unless that fan theory that he's secretly an umbrella researcher is real, I don't see what he could possibly add.

Lol, it just does sound like RE4
Old character from past goes to Europe for some reason.

Regular Zombies are a welcome edition for me.. I dunno to me Resident Evil just isn't Resident Evil without them.. Maybe why I don't enjoy RE4 as much as others.

FPS point-of-view?
Thanks, but no thanks.

It feels like Capcom's doing a pillar strategy of continuing the first person style with 7 and 8 while still allowing for classic variations via the remakes.
Given that 3 is the last of the original trilgoy, I'm curious if there's any other titles they're keen on reimagining (Code Veronica? Outbreak?) or if we'll get new full blown classic style games.

I can imagine them doing Code Veronica and maybe Zero. I doubt Outbreak despite my love for that subseries. I would love to be suprised if they did do it though.

Ehhh. Resident Evil 7 was pretty good but I'd prefer they just stick to the style of the 2 remake.

I could see a 4 remake happening. It wouldn't be too hard to reimagine it somewhat to fit into the style they're doing now, although I could see it losing a lot of the appeal if they make it less campy.

I actually liked 7 having a more everyman protagonist as opposed to an action hero, so I'm cool with Ethan returning. Though he's now probably a super secret special agent this time.

I can't even imagine how you would make a remake of RE4. Like, do you improve the combat mechanics and make it more actiony or do you make it more like the RE2 remake and go for slower paced gameplay with puzzles and backtracking. Either way, you risk screwing up what made the original special but keeping it as is would come off as dated since it became a blueprint for every 3rd person shooter since.

It’s so fxxxing stiff by current games standards. I tried to play it somewhat recently but quickly quit after the first village battle because the thing is just a beast to handle.

This is the thing I look forward to the most. Hopefully it'll be more of a hot goth chick look than Ursula.

Trailer: It looks like everything from the leaks were real, for those interested: {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} Ethan and Mia were infected with the mold virus from the last game. They're okay but their baby that's conceived after RE7 is deformed and mutated, to protect it they go into hiding until Chris shows up and kills it and possibly Mia at the start of the game.
There's also a emphasis on a rechargeable flashlight that can run out of power and Alex Wesker is in the game to some capacity due to it originally being a Revelations game.
