It was a really nice touch that his hand was still twitching even as he was pinned.

Very damn good, and kudos on Jericho for getting that kind of speed on it from that close.

I was middle-of-the-road on the Judas Effect at first, but it's really grown on me. It's simple enough to work as an "out of nowhere" move in all kinds of situations, and reminds me of when Mutoh busted out the Shining Wizard as part of his reinvention in the early 2000s, in the sense that both guys are legendary veterans who started relying on a strike finisher.
Of course, it's only as good as the guy selling it makes it look, and Kassidy sold it like instant death.

The first couple Judas Effect's were iffy since it was such a new move and isn't the easiest to hit, but the last couple have been things of beauty.

Put me in the "warming up on the Judas Effect" column
When it looks good it looks like death, but when it looks bad it looks like a transition move and you're wondering what happened.

It was a really nice touch that his hand was still twitching even as he was pinned. Echoing the love for the hand twitch. Also, a big critique about Private Party is their inability to sell, and that was a dang good sell right there.

I like others was iffy on it go begin with but just goes to show you can book anything as a big deal if you do it properly even a spinning back elbow

From memory I'm pretty sure on his podcast Jericho talked about Private Party having a conversation with him about a double version of The Judas Effect they use in the indies. Out of respect they aren't using it in AEW. I guess if anyone is gonna sell it like death it's someone who uses it themselves.

If Andrade used his to finish matches, I'd buy it. There's just something about Chris Jericho trying to be an MMA striker after decades of being no such thing that I find odd. It doesn't suit him at all. It especially doesn't work in a company where people are constantly kicking out of stuff that looks WAY more devastating. Kickass sell by Kassidy, though.

I was really underwhelmed when he first used the Judas Effect, but, honestly, as many in this thread have said, Jericho's gotten really good at making it look brutal and credit to Kassidy for selling it like he'd just been knocked into the middle of next week.

It especially doesn't work in a company where people are constantly kicking out of stuff that looks WAY more devastating. Kickass sell by Kassidy, though. When he teased the move prior to Double or Nothing, I got the feeling that it was Jericho's tacit admission in kayfabe that he's getting older, and that he'd need to change things up. They talked about how the move is very strong, but also has serious disadvantages, namely poor reach and having to turn your back on your opponent to perform it, both of which leave you open to being countered or evaded. It's kind of like when Keiji Mutoh adopted the Shining Wizard when he was getting too old and beaten up to be finishing all his matches with moonsaults anymore. Old dogs learn new tricks, or they get pushed aside. It also helps that few men have gone through as many finishers as Jericho has, with I think the Codebreaker being his most recent one prior, and that's become such a common indie move that he probably needed to relegate it to a signature move at this point. All that said, I wonder if part of why he picked the move was thematic reasons. Judas is his theme, and to do the Judas Effect, you literally have to turn your back on your opponent, to go along with the figurative for the name.
