My parents managed to get both toilet paper and paper towels at Walmart today. Bless.
My dad also assured me they practiced social distancing and brought a thing of disinfectant wipes with them to wipe down the steering wheel and shopping cart.

Had to write our governor and give him hell. He ordered state employees to abandon our checkpoint to keep mainlanders out and then gave our local government hell over it. The dude is literally doing the same exact thing with his own barricade coming from Louisiana to Florida. There’s one road into here and it comes straight out of the two counties with the most cases in the state. They turned around 50 cars the first morning and an average of 20 an hour after.

I went to Walmart yesterday, to pick up a few supplies for my aunt. Luckily, it's right next to work. When I got to the line, I stayed away from the people ahead of me, and some distance from the cashier. She told me that the person in front of me, and myself, were just a few people that took the social distancing seriously. Other people were close together, like a normal day.

Place I work at has been deemed "essential". Be interesting to see how far that goes once somebody inevitably gets infected.

Honestly I think seeing things like this is good for the public. I think a majority of people need to see that the disease is not necessarily a death sentence

New York, Connecticut and New Jersey are under strong travel advisory
1,000 deaths shot up in 2 days when it took a few weeks to reach 1,000

Place I work at has been deemed "essential". Be interesting to see how far that goes once somebody inevitably gets infected. Same here. I have a newborn so I am very nervous about contracting it. Hate it. Forced to work in very close proximity to others with no hazard pay. I work as a mill mechanic during the non grinding season and as such there is no way to do the work without being next to other people. If we get sick and use up our sick leave (5 days) then we will start losing vacation days. I had a surgery in January so I’m out of days right now. Sorry for the rant. Just nervous and hate having to be out at risk. Very grateful to have a job and paycheck right now. Could be much worse

I had to take my mom around town today to get some essentials (RX refills, gas, groceries, etc.). I'd have preferred not to have taken her, but I had to with her prescriptions being on the military base (military spouses/widows/etc get free or extremely discounted prescriptions). Today was also 65 degrees in IL, it was somewhat busy but nothing compared to what you'd expect in normal times. I was shocked.

I wish they'd start showing the 'recovered' stat in with the cases and deaths to give us some sort of context, not to mention hope. You have no idea what to do with the cases/deaths info if we have no idea who is still dealing with it or just got diagnosed.

Sounds similar to how the President of the Philippines called the Lockdown of Manila not a lockdown but a quarantine.

Essentially, yeah Some parts in Brooklyn and I think Manhattan has closed off streets. However, you're still able to roam around freely but you really don't see that many people outside I did notice yesterday when I went outside there was a group of people by one corner store and when I went out today, cops were sitting down the block and no one was up there

Yea I mean, NY is clearly putting limits on itself as opposed to being forced to. Outside of that group of like 6 people I saw yesterday, I haven't seen anyone really in a group. I live across the street from a park and it has been empty for basically 3 weeks But yeah, in terms of people outside they are either exercising or just traveling to somewhere. No one is really loitering outside just because

I understand the need to continue certain fields, but it feels like the folks deemed essential are being thrown to the wolves with no mechanism for avoiding infection. We've implemented the same policies as other places, but social distancing literally doesn't work and there's no effort to do anything about it. How can people avoid getting sick when we're forced to stay in contact with others? It's crazy.
