I've told you guys in the past that I used to RP on Twitter, well, I couldn't help myself and reactivated one of my RP accounts and, ironically, it was the first ever account that I had set up back in November of 2011; it was an original character I came up with and all that, but, one of my friends in the Twitter RP community also happened to use the same face-claim that I used for her OC.
Which is fair enough, you know, there's nothing wrong with that, and, what you do in RP Twitter is that you often tweet in character, with marks like this '//' to let people know that you're out of character, it's a simple system and, yet, when I tweeted something as a heel, she gave a response that seemed like it was legitimate frustration, for whatever reason.
So, I DMed her and asked her about it, and she confirmed that it was legitimate frustration because my character was coming off as too abrasive, even if they were a heel and she didn't like it because she felt 'Guilty by association' because we both used the same FC for our characters.
She's had a go at me before and it actually got to the point where I left Twitter RP for a spell, but I came back, because I find it a way for my creativity to come out. But, this time, we were having a discussion and we've got a few mutual friends who we RP with and have banter and all that; and, since we've got the same FC, our characters get compared, as mine as the heel, they're referred to as the 'discount' version of the character my friend portrays.
I've got no problem with that, and actually find it quite amusing, now, I was assuming that she didn't like the fact that we were using the same FC, so I DMed her with "Is me having -insert reference here- that big of an issue to you and she said that it wasn't, but then she said, quote "Seems as if you’re trying to make me look like a bad guy here, though. Appreciate it."
Now, is me offering to change my character's look so she feels better really me making her out to be the bad guy? Because, honestly, I don't see it, but I don't want to say that, because she'll just get snippier and more confrontational, so it's best to just agree with her because trying to explain things to her just makes it worse.
Some people take fun escapism and find a way to make it waaaay too serious; the thing is, I don't want to make anyone feel bad, so I was just caught off guard by the fact that she was so confrontational and I didn't have the bottle to just go "Look, can you get off my case??"
