What music collaborations that never happened, you wish happened.
For me I will start with this. Prince and Debbie Gibson. I see so many simularities in thse two, both young music protegies that wrote and produced most of their songs right out the gate. Prince more so, Debbie didn't all her instruments, or have complete control in early albums, but Debbie was a teenager when she bursted on the scene. Prince was 19 when his first album was released, still all the stuff he was over 20, not a teenager.
Anyway maybe once Debbie got past the bubble gum pop stage of her career and ready to move on to a more "serious" adult artist, maybe her and Prince could have worked together, they are all similar when you break it down, believe it or not, it broke my mind.

Just as a dumb cover, I always wanted some tounge-in-cheek metal band to do a cover of "Take Me Home Tonight" but have Ronnie James Dio do the Ronnie Spector parts, and instead of "Be My Little Baby" he'd say lines from his songs like "You're a Rainbow In The Dark" or "Holy Diver"

I always thought an Alice Cooper/Johnny Cash collaboration would be neat. And after watching a video on the PMRC, it made me want for Frank Zappa working with either Dee Snider or John Denver.

DIO!!!!!

Prince and Björk. There were rumours in 2003, but that's all they were.

El-P (of Run the Jewels) and Trent Reznor were supposed to co-produce a Zach de la Rocha solo album in 2002.

One more for you:
2002/2003 Roc-a-Fella had an album slated for released called 'Mac and Brad.'
It was to be Scarface and Beanie Sigel on the mic together, produced entirely by "Izzo"-era Kanye West.

While relatively minor collaborations, Johnny Cash was supposed to sing the Coldplay song Kingdom Come, and Willie Nelson was supposed to do Megadeth's Blackest Crow. I would have loved to have heard them both.

Tori Amos and Cannibal Corpse. There was a thing someone put together on Napster years back but a legit collaboration would have been cool as shit!!
I think Marilyn Manson and and Elton John would be cool as Hell too.

Honestly I just wanted one live performance collaboration between Freddie Mercury and Bowie. Not having a definitive live version of Under Pressure is a damn shame in and of itself.

Not exactly a collab, but if Kurt Cobain hadn't committed suicide, we would've gotten an entire album of covers just like this.
More on-topic...
We'll never get a proper studio collab between these two and it'll forever make me sad.

Also a collaboration between Queen and GNR would've been great. Sadly the only GnR/Queen collab we have is the songs "Catcher In The Rye" "Perhaps" and "Atlas Shrugged" that have Brian May on guitar...however not released officially. Mine would be an Axl Rose and Billy Corgan collab. I feel they would have made some magic together, more so if it was during when Buckethead was with Axl as those elements would have been something incredible.

For a short window in time, I strangely wanted Eminem & Justin Timberlake to make something together.

Dave Grohl and Nirvana would have been a neat collab
