I'm good with full time DH. I've never been a purest and I'm always into ways to enhance something. I don't agree with all the changes that are being proposed but DH would make things a lot more enjoyable for me. Plus a spot in the order for aging players or defensive liabilities would be fantastic

The DH should have been universal a long time ago. I know baseball purists love the NL rules, but baseball purists are not the demo MLB should be listening to. Put the DH in the NL full time. Even the MLBPA will agree to that since it will mean more jobs for hitters. I think the universal DH and the expanded playoff format are two things that will stick beyond 2020. In addition to the draft rounds being lowered indefinitely, probably to 20 rounds. Two thing I wish baseball would do in the future - Fulltime DH - Extra innings start with a man on 2nd. The luster of extra inning games in the regular season is one that really isn't there when you consider everyone is swinging their hardest to just end the game You’re right about the runner on 2nd in extra innings. I’m guessing they will implement that rule this year because they won’t have the bodies to risk going too deep into extra innings (+ no minor leagues to demote players/bring up new ones), and that change will probably end up sticking as well. There is no extra money to be made for the league with extra innings, and it’s just further injury risk for the players without any upside for the team or the fans watching. Baseball purists are going to HATE it but much like everything else they will either grow to like it or learn to accept it.

I hate the idea of having a runner on second for extra innings. If nobody wins after ten innings just call it a tie.

Extra innings regular in playoffs, yes keep that you don’t need the man on 2nd. But regular season Na that has to go. The excitement level wears off when all the players want to do is hit home runs. Nobody is trying to get on base and bunt a man over. It created a lot of Excitement in the baseball classic and would not make some games be a chore to sit through

If you're asking me to risk my long-term health and possibly my life to play a baseball game, you're damn right I'm going to want my full pay for it. It's just a really bad optic when people are suffering because of our country's broken economic system. But team owners should be getting just as much shit when they cut staff wages or are "forced" to lay off workers that make a pittance compared to the billions they're worth. But they won't because Americans worship the wealthy and think they can do no wrong. That's America in a nutshell. The American Dream is about "wealth at all costs", so we worship those that made it, and mock and scream at those who have issues with that philosophy. It's funny how that is... the people who constantly make the system busted are the ones idolized, unless you're a Peter Angelos and you have absolutely no goodwill whatsoever. Not to say the player's association are all saints, but ultimately, it's that and the typical negative stigma unions are given as lazy and corrupt organizations that always want something for nothing when they're the ones that actually are producing the resource (in this case, the sport of baseball) which give the owners the PR advantage. You don't see the owners and the board room running out and playing 9 innings, though the amount of heat stroke and heart attacks would be an interesting sight.

I hate, hate, hate, the DH. Pitchers bat in baseball. It's part of the game and it should always be part of the game. Strategy over more offense 100% of the time.

He was also the first black GM to ever win a World Series, doing so with the 1996 New York Yankees.

Man such a beautiful day in NYC, there’s little doubt that if the Mets were home tonight, I would be at Citi Field right now trying to get a 24oz beer before the anthem.

Rumor going around that Mets are losing Binghamton and Kingsport as part of the minor league cuts.

Astros lucked out a ton that the pandemic has dominated everything in the sports news cycle. It's probably dulled the vitriol and reactions they were going to face outside Houston from both fans and opposing teams. Both because they're an incredibly easy organization to hate from the front office down and also because of how limp Manfred's punishments were.
Like if the season went on as normal, I was expecting things to get outright violent. Now? I think things will be dialed back a lot, unless they can't help themselves and do something douchy along the way.

I think they're still gonna get a lot of shit. Players won't forget. You know if nobody's on, the first time Chapman faces Altuve, he's throwing at him.

Well this can go two different ways Even if they get playing again, there will be no fans Or, if their is fans again whatever small number their will be, they will probably be too happy to actually boo them

I don't see him throwing at him especially with these games being so short and you can't afford to lose people What probably happens is they use one of the 50 extra bodies they got on the roster to start shit. Yankees want to smoke them on the field with the score and last resort will be to actually start getting dirty

Yeah this shutdown really hurt baseball. They had a villain that every fan base hates and would have lead a lot of SportsCenters off if/when an Astros player got hit. They were finally getting mainstream attention for something, even LeBron tweeted about it. Then there was the fact that the Yankees signed Cole and looked to be the favorites in the AL, and Betts was traded to the Dodgers and they looked to be the favorites in the NL. A Yankees/Dodgers World Series with fans in attendance would have been a gold mine for MLB. They were on pace to hit revenue highs this year. Then this happened.
With that said, I do expect Astros players to get plunked even with no fans in attendance. Players won’t ignore it just because of this.
