Usagi Yojimbo is not part of the TMNT property it is from a completely separate comic (it's why in the 80's show he came from a different dimension) ... but good news a Netflix show is coming of it. Really!? Did not know that and I swear I was introduced to him through them smh A lot of us were. Stan Sakai collaborated with Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird for an Usagi/Turtles crossover when he was a bigger deal than they were. Being grateful to Stan, when Turtles hit big, they got Usagi into the toyline and cartoon to hook him up with merch money. Most of us were kids back then and discovered him that way.

Andy Suriano, creator of Rise of the TMNT, has posted a eulogy for his show Said it on Twitter and it still stands, this is going to be the show in recent memory that people will regret not giving a chance too. From what I saw of Rise it wasnt bad, but the series it came after was so good and so beloved that it was an uphill battle from the get go... especially so soon after the 2012 series. Now admittedly, in recent adaptations (including the comics) it to me is the weakest of the recent TMNT media, but it wasnt bad. Speaking of new shows, I think adapting the IDW comic would be a good show

After I mentioned it, now I REALLY want an adaptation of urban legends Maybe not a straight adaptation. It's kinda dour at times and there are some parts that haven't aged well. But yeah, there's a lot of stuff from the TMNT's Image/Urban Legends run that I'd love to see show up in the broader Turtles Mythos. Pimiko, Go-Komodo, Lady Shredder, Cyborg Donatello, Shadow Jones and her parentage. All stuff that's barely been touched outside the Image run that I think has a lot of potential to get great stories from.

As long as the broad strokes are there: - Maybe not fullout scarred , but something prompts Raph to become Shredder - Leo losing his hand for sure has to be there - Mikey the writer too! - Cyber Don is a given

I have to wonder if Rise would have done better if they didn't change the designs of the turtles so much.

All prompted by Michelangelo "disappearing"?

Yes, season three of the 2003 series, "Same As It Never Was". Why does this surprise you? But the episode really had more in common with Gargoyles' "Past Tense" then anything from Urban Legends.

I read on the Technodrome forums that the Rise team had intended to do a modern take on the Fred Wolf episode "Adventures In Turtlesitting" with Mikey looking after infant versions of Leo, Don and Raph

I have to wonder if Rise would have done better if they didn't change the designs of the turtles so much. I don't think it was the designs half as much as it was the random "Raph is the leader, Leonardo is the prankster" thing they pulled. That's just reinventing the wheel.

When three of the last four movies and the last show flopped I don't really understand why this franchise needs to keep on with continually pumping out installments instead of taking a break for a bit.

I want Bay to make them aliens this time just for the sheer awfulness potential to be at maximum level.

Because its an IP that has a recognizable name. Better to keep milking it than to try something new.
