Vince knows what he's doing.
Heels openly express the contempt he feels for fans. Faces are presented as weak and naive and lacking the "alpha" characteristics he admires. Vulnerability, empathy, humility and gratitude are aspects of weakness for him, and must be punished - even as his daughter and son-in-law make them selling points for PR events attended by WWE stars. He has hired Paul Heyman and Bruce Pritchard to act as his fall guys over creative, but really they're puppets, willing to throw their long-term creative legacies out the window, with Vince himself manipulating the strings in plain view of everyone.
Vince knows, but has a very solipsistic view of his product and of how fans will react to it.

I just have no damned words... At least he won? Yeah, no, it's Mania season and Ricochet's less of a priority right now than Sarah Logan.

What's the problem? Looks like he's back in the Main Event... Isn't that what people wanted?

Here’s the thing for me... What am I, as a fan, expected to do here? I like Ricochet, I want to see him win matches and generally be a featured star. Am I supposed to just give up on him? Does WWE want me to give up on him? Do other fans want me to give up on him? If he goes on to win his next 50 TV matches and win a world title, would I be expected to sit there in silence because he lost to Riddick Moss clean once and worked Main Event a couple of times?
Will it ever turn around for him? I don’t f***ing know. There’s enough history to prove that it’s definitely not a 100% guarantee for any option. For f***s sake, we’re a fair shot for having our SECOND world champion out of 3MB.
Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve always got to have a little bit of optimism for someone no matter how bad it gets. Otherwise, what’s the damn point of any of this?

Should be noted Cedric Alexander lost to Riddick Moss tonight as well
Not like Cedric wasn't pretty much dead as well in terms of a push or relevancy but man it just reminds me how he wanted to snap at people who told him losing to AJ Styles was a burial and it turned out to be exactly that, he NEVER recovered.

I want someone to photoshop Ricochet and Cedric onto that picture of Kane and Taker when they had that rough week in 2002.

Imagine looking at a guy like Ricochet and going, "Yeah, we have nothing for him. Stick him on Main Event."

It's one of those moments that demonstrates that fans may not be in the business or anything...but sometimes (maybe often), we can see the patterns from the outside a bit better than people who have to get jerked around by Vince for a living.

Also almost everyone believes that they're the exception to the rule. It's not surprising when people rationalise that their situation is different, despite no evidence supporting it.

Sure, one of them had their rival dress up as him and pretend to f*** a corpse, and the other had THEIR rival break his hand and hire some woman to accuse him of infidelity, but that’s NOTHING compared to losing a wrestling match!

The dilemma with Ricochet is that the wacky spots and moves is about all he has going for him. He doesn't have much charisma or mic skill, so when WWE makes him "learn how to work" and takes away all his cool stuff and makes him sell there really isn't much to care about.

Is the fastest fall ever? From facing for the World Title to being on the D-Show. In 2 Weeks.

Is the fastest fall ever? From facing for the World Title to being on the D-Show. In 2 Weeks. He and Kofi Kingston had some pretty massive, almost instant falls from the main event. I'd still say Kingston's is worse cause he was a world champion with a decently long reign and now he's... literally nothing right now. Ricochet in terms of a challenger going from a main event push to wrestling on Main Event is probably one of the quickest and most bizarre I've ever seen though regardless. There's no way Ricochet isn't frustrated about this. Like why would he want to stay here if he's clearly hit his ceiling? The Indies are a much bigger place now, he really has any option he wants...

When I look at Ricochet, I see a guy the zoomer/younger audiences can probably relate to more. He seems like he'd connect with them, and they NEED to attract more younger fans for the future. It's frustrating to see them waste him. If I had to guess based on the recent Big Show interview from Austin's podcast, the guy is probably just too nice. I can easily see a scenario where Vince doesn't think he has enough tough guy bravado or whatever antiquated bullshit he looks for.
