I took it as more preying on a guy who has been through a lot. Kevin Sullivan did a similar gimmick when he was an evil cult leader and recruited a bunch of college wrestlers. Former athletes who couldn't make it are prime targets for stuff like this because they want to be a part of a team again, they want to be successful.

I don't mind the Vince inspired-ness of the gimmick, but I do think the vignettes have gotten less entertaining with Lee. This one at least looks like it's going somewhere. I hope they do some more fake commercial style shorts

I hope they do some more fake commercial style shorts I think the biggest thing is that Uno and Grayson's vignettes had a certain direction to them that I deeply enjoyed, and now that Brodie Lee is the central figure (and everything AEW has said about their process makes that a very important factor) the direction has changed. And while I dig the idea of Brode Lee channeling Vince McMahon for a cult leader conceptually, I'm not the biggest fan of the execution and, most importantly, the direction it has taken the vignettes. It almost feels like Brodie Lee has shorted the scope of the Dark Order by ignoring the aspect of the Dark Order that was "we're politicians, and doctors, and teachers. We're in your homes, your work, your schools" to focus on the wrestling. I feel like it is a detriment.

This all has to be Plan B or C anyway, with Uno and Grayson unavailable until who knows when.

Is there anyway the Exhaulted One is a title that's passed on, and we get the predecessor to Lee coming out and taking the title back?

I think the first ones were to set the Mr Brodie Lee Character, last week felt more of a return to norm. it is also harder to get the "we are everyone" aspect when you can get no one to play those non-wrestling parts. I still want a ref to go Dark Order

The big thing for Brodie in AEW so far is that AEW is letting him do what WWE didn't: they're letting him talk, develop a character, and come off as the "well-spoken monster" character he's seemed interested in trying for awhile. So he's aligned with another "dark" stable, but it ended up being a subversion because it turns out it's nothing like the Wyatt Family, it's more like a pyramid scheme with a violent streak. If they wanted to bring Rowan in, there'd have to be something similar done, I think, where AEW can let Rowan subvert what people would expect from him on some level. If he was going to be put with Dark Order, then it'd have to be done in a way that plays into the direction Lee's going and let Rowan be a different character than he's been in WWE; maybe something like Rowan being the Dark Order employee that Lee always points to so he can shame the others, saying "Why can't you be more like HIM?" That said, yeah, for the sake of freshness if Rowan were to go to AEW it might be nice to let him do something more on his own to develop his own presence and character. Definitely with the take on this (I think he's said he's been researching cult leaders for this character) and inject this in my veins. He's absolutely killing it with the details (the whole "exit ramp" quote was from David Miscavige) and folding Vinceisms into that character makes total sense in terms of enhancing the controlling/gaslighting aspects of that character. And I would assume Vance is going to be the model mook character proposed for Rowan here, so he doesn't need to be tied to the Dark Order. Let Rowan develop his own identity separate of Brodie, or at most acknowledge "damn, you changed..." and go their own ways.

He still needs better ring gear, he looks like the third member of Kronik.

I really liked the promo this week though. The way Brodie spoke, how cutting it was yet he built Preston up like he could be something. This is the kind of promo Brodie needed to show, one where it shows why people join Dark Order, his presence and ability to recruit and promise a sense of belonging and that they can turn things around as just about everyone who joins Dark Order is at rock bottom.
Brodie demands results and punishes those who don't deliver, but the last two weeks we've seen what happens to the underlings who listen and show promise, and I really like that. We'll probably only continue to see this when "10" is featured as well.

The biggest thing missing of The Dark Order is a success story that is not their "elite" ones(Brodie,Stu,Uno). 10 might be that success story

The proper followup would be having Preston squash someone(Law, Stunt) to prove that Brodie was right about bringing him to the DO unlike when the Beaver Boys were recruited by Uno and they were still jobbers(but seems that they are about to get revamped)

Their promo on Road To was a great start

Their promo on Road To was a great start I could see them maybe cheating a win off of someone like the Gunn Club or one of the other relatively low tier teams. They're probably still not going to be besting Best Friends, SCU, or Jurassic Express, maybe not even Private Party since the latter seem like they're on a bit of a rebound, too.

So why is Brodie Lee doing an homage to Vince He did one inside reference to it.Nothing more There was way more than one reference. There was the sneezing. Meltzer acknowledged that him eating before others was based on a specific Vince incident. He didn’t put ketchup on his steak at least. There was of course the “old man” reference in his debut. The yawning which was again mentioned by Meltzer as being a direct reference. The Mister Brodie Lee. The similar style suits. I will give them credit for easing up on the references in recent weeks and hopefully they’ll be done with that aspect of the character.
