Hope its just a one time thing, don't need AEW to be taking pointless shots and jabs at them like TNA did that results in them looking second rate. I think there's a pretty big gap between the two. TNA, they'd just constantly throw shots at WWE directly in a way that contributed nothing and made no sense within the context of the story. This is basically just taking specific aspects of Vince and working them into the character, which if you know what they're referencing makes for a funny knock but if you don't then it still works because Brodie looks like an unreasonable asshole treating his flunkies like garbage. I do think the Sister Abigail setup is a bit much though. It's a fine line I think. Once or twice is fine, but if they just keep going to the same well, it'll run dry.

I do think the Sister Abigail setup is a bit much though. Agreed on...all of these points, actually. What Brodie's doing is taking Vince as inspiration, the same way tons of wrestlers have used inspirations from within and without wrestling. What he's pointedly not doing is talking about Vince and WWE directly, making this all about what has already happened and diminishing what he is doing right now. Instead, he's taking that inspiration and using it to move a story forward - the Dark Order suddenly has a whole new element. It gives more texture to Silver and Reynolds' involvement in the faction, adds a different sense of threat and purpose to Evil Uno and Stu Grayson, and gives the faction a stronger hook for singles and trios. What makes it work is that the references build to the future instead of pointing to the past.

Please don’t let this thing be another funny ha-ha gimmick. It's not, also it worked into the regular gimmick. It was only a nod if you knew the Vince sneezing thing. Otherwise, Reynolds sneezing was seen as a sign of disrepect to Brodie, tainting his food and the atmosphere. He treats them well but also like garbage if you do one wrong thing. Brodie's been presented completely serious

I want Brodie to watch an Uno and Grayson match, and say "What a maneuver" when they perform the Fatality.

You’ll really know he’s supppsed to be Vince, if AEW starts being terrible. Well, he's in the Dark Order, which has been pretty terrible throughout.

As someone who has watched all their vignettes and matches... kinda have to disagree there. They've only gotten better over time and fixed the crap that wasn't working.

So he thinks necrophilia and little people are the height of hilarity?

Was funny this once. Going to be quite disappointed if it carries on.

Was funny this once. Going to be quite disappointed if it carries on. It depends on how it's handled, honestly. If it is being handled in a "this is the kind of ego that would create a cult of personality for his own benefit", then it's fine. If it's Billionaire Ted stuff, then yeah, that'd be a letdown.

Was funny this once. Going to be quite disappointed if it carries on. That’s pretty much where I’m at. I didn’t have an issue with the Vince jokes, just uneasy about them being introduced into The Dark Order. They’re starting to really click, Brodie has good momentum, I don’t wanna see this turn into a running Vince joke.

Sorry for repeating this but the whole sneezing stuff, the casuals couldve thought that it was a Coronavirus reference, since they have no idea about Vince sneezing incident.
Now if we see for example Brodie walking like Vince then yeah that would be bad(good thing he didnt do it last night)

Next week he needs to be trying to convince Mox to get some shots and start wearing a gas mask. To be fair, Mox probably SHOULD get shots. Given the Racoons and all.

It's somethnig that was always going to catch flak from the same people who always give them flak for this sort of thing, but Vince is the most fascinating figure in modern pro wrestling for better and for worse, and there's a ton of details to him that seem weird, incongruous, and certainly almost villainous in the right light. Mining some minor touches and comedy out of that and not just getting all RAH RAH VINCE SUCKS HI VINNIE LET'S TALK ABOUT UP NORTH doesn't seem like a problem. Dark Order is neat, a couple minor insider mentions won't make this TNA 2.0 and I feel like anyone saying it will either didn't see or forgot how desperate and dire TNA's digs really were.

Yeah, I saw some people comparing it to Voodoo Kin Mafia, when its not even close, Road Dog and Billy Gunn straight up called out HBK and HHH and also they were the babyfaces!!!

Forget that, TNA had a HHH and Vince impersonator during a PPV all to build up a video where everyone was blurred. Like...if we're comparing this to stuff like that? Come on...

If we're comparing it to anything, it's more along the lines of Marvel and DC doing different things in their comics forever.
Like, if you didn't know a thing about the Justice League (no idea how but work with me here), you'd have no idea that Marvel's Squadron Supreme was basically "Evil Justice League". Same with how Grant Morrison created an Avengers for his Multiversity books.
If it goes beyond that, sure, it'll get lame, but if it's just this and maybe a couple of other stuff in the next few weeks? It's honestly harmless. Especially since we're not THAT far from the "Billionaire Ted" skits and, as mentioned, most of TNA's history.
