What was your reaction to the ending of Problem Child the first time you saw it, when out of no where Michael Richards shot John Ritter. The first time I saw it when I was a little kid, that shocked me and scared the hell out of me. I don't remember if I really thought he was going to die being a little kid too young to know better. Though he didn't take long for the plumb reveal. The whole Ritter getting shot, what really made it great, the whole tone of the movie has ntohing as dark as that ever happening. So when it happens, holly crap, Pure genius.
They don't make kids movies like they use to.

When you said ending the only thing that came to mind was that animal farting in that lady's face.

And that's only because for like a week after we saw it, my friends kept saying "Where's Mrs. Healy?" followed by a fart noise. It was annoying.

How many of you have seen Problem Child 3? It's a made-for-TV movie and.. it's awful.

What's that movie about anyway? IMDB page has some weird butt analysis (in first review) about Macaulay's father being part of Hollywood Mafia and forcing studio to have his son in this film or we would not have Home Alone 2 at all!

It's a really really good psychological thriller that has been completely forgotten about for whatever reason. Watch it.

I liked it better when Michael Richards shot on Andy Kaufman during an episode of Fridays:

Am I the only one who thinks that series is terrible as a whole? Loved it as a kid but yikes as I get older the more cringier it gets.

Problem Child the first one was a bit darker than the second. The second was pure comedy while the first, maybe getting their footing, had more serious tones to it. Shooting John Ritter was definitely dramatic since he was more of a pure comedy guy at the time. I like everything about the second one more than the first. I also saw the third version and everyone did their best but definitely not the same without the original cast.

What completely blew my mind as an adult later going back to those films was learning that John Ritter's shrill and antagonistic wife in the first film and his sweet love interest in the second one were played by the same actress...and that actress was the same one who played the cute Maid Marian in "Robin Hood: Men In Tights".

And she was his real life wife.
