So I’m watching 1994 WWF on the network and I can’t help but think ‘ What is with all the mullets? ‘
You have Shawn Michaels, Diesel, Crush, Jimmy Del Rey, The 123 Kid, the Smoking Gunns and numerous jobbers ( you could make an argument to a lesser extent for Lex Luger, Tatanka and Razor )
I was always under the impression by the 90s that mullets were a bad joke from the 80s or belonged to the stereotypical redneck?

It was the hipster beard and undercut of the 90's.

I consider the mullet to be more a 90s thing. The 1990 World Cup was the zenith of the mullet.

It had some pushback, sure, but keep in mind, this was around the era of Billy Ray Cyrus. The mullet wasn't quite out of the mainstream just yet.

Hey. It's "Business in front. Party in the back". How could the mullet ever go out of style?
Oh, and amusing variant of the mullet was worn by Paul Heyman. When you're balding up top & long hair, then it's a "skullet". Hmm...Hogan had one too.

A few years ago, I found my tape of WM 9. Me and my buddy put it on for a laugh/nostalgia. And yeah, after a few matches, we were both like, "What the f*** is up with everybody's hair?" lol

By 1994 having that 80s mullet was totally out of style. It was one indication that the WWF itself was hopelessly out of style, but realize all of those guys mentioned started wrestling in the 80s when mullets were a necessity in wrestling.
The bigger early 90s cheese haircut was having the goofy duck tail in the back. Sting had that look at one point.

Cant talk about mullets in wrestling without talking about the only man with a 7 Star Tokyo Dome Mullet.

I think outside of a couple of brief, shining moments, most of wrestling often seemed to be about four or five years behind the pop culture zeitgeist - Limp Bizkit being "the WWE's favourite band" in 2003, for example - and the proliferation of mullets in the mid nineties is probably part of that.

For covering spot calls and to add to the chaos by having hair flying around, right?

Cant talk about mullets in wrestling without talking about the only man with a 7 Star Tokyo Dome Mullet. look, Dave is without a doubt rocking a sweet mullet there, but it ain't no 7 stars. there is only one 7 star mullet in history, and to see it you gotta get out of pro wrestling and head over to Renegade. behold, Bobby Sixkiller and the greatest mullet in history: that's not just a haircut, that is a piece of art! if everyone could sport a mullet that magnificent, it never would have gone out of style. and a great as it looks still, its even better in action:

Props must be given to Ricky Morton for continuing to rock the mullet even now, some 30 years since it went out of style. Is there anyone else in the industry who’s shown such unwavering loyalty to the good old ape drape?

It's funny..... before I knew the term "mullet", it was a "hockey-style haircut" to me. LOL Wasn't it Jagr that had a glorious, long flowing mullet back in the day?
