Is this synonymous with the Coates project, I wonder?

So HBO Max is finally launching this week across South America and parts of Europe...
YAAAAY!
...Except in the parts where HBO is signed as associated with a broadcaster like the UK and Ireland are with Sky, with contracts (as of now) set until 2025.
BOOOOOOO!

So, uh, yeah... this is certainly a thing. Aquaman needs to me more in your face, voiced by John DiMaggio, and says outrageous all the time.

Is it so in the comics? Momoa’s just kind of an adaptation of the hunky long haired blonde Arthur from the 90s run.

Saying this as someone looking forward to both The Batman and Peacemaker, can we please wait to see if people actually like depictions of characters before giving them spinoff shows?

Animation nowadays is nothing more than two dots and a u.

Man, one day I'm going to drink some of that weird dislike people have for kids animation.
Like, what does that taste like? Lemon?

The art style's such a clusterf***. The humanoid characters look like they're out of Thundercats Roar but the side characters are way more grotesque and look like they're out of a sea-themed episode of Superjail or some shit. I have no idea if this is aimed at kids or at adults and the only real tipping point I have in thinking it's more supposed to be for adults is how ugly it looks because it seems like a general rule for some reason that shows made aimed at adults don't get to have good animation.
Like, I might go ahead and give it a shot - hell, I tried to give Thundercats Roar a fair shake - but I'm not seeing anything here that works. The jokes in the trailer are weak and the art is just eugh.
Granted it's not like its existence ruins my day or anything, it just looks like some crappy cartoon I'll forget about within a week of it coming out.

Which one has more effort put into it and would appeal moreso to kids and audiences would you say? There's no effort or heart put into animation anymore and looks like something you'd see sketched on a table napkin or a piece of cardboard.
It maybe a kids show but the very least they could do is to try and act like they care about what they're making.

I mean, the final season of X-Men had them all look like gloopy moulds that could melt in any second but those two examples have so many different backstories and budgets and intentions, they're not worth going into as case studies in comparison. And to your other points, goddamn you're making a lot of accusations you can't back up with talking about people's heart and passion and stuff. Just say you don't like it and move on, dude.

Also the fact it looks like this actually kinda shows they do care, as it is relatively common knowledge that the simpler the designs are in animation, the easier it is to keep the animation consistent and, you know, actually animated. It allows the animators to actually put more life into the movements and expressions of the characters. Were designs in cartoons in the 80s and 90s "cooler" than today? Yeah, sure, but most of those shows also had some pretty choppy ass animation too, in part because of the designs being so detailed.

Like, I'm not likely to watch it and it's not my bag but if you put a gun to the back of my head and said to me "This or yet another show trying to replicate Bruce Timm without really getting what made the original JL/JLU stuff work" then I'd pick the former every time. It at least allows for different interpretations to exist from different creative teams.

Has anyone watched Malignant yet because it’s honestly a blast so far and I haven’t even reached the part being hyped up.
