In general it kind of feels like we're entering into a dark period of animation right now. A lot of acclaimed shows either have ended in recent years or are about to end, there doesn't seem to be a lot coming up to replace them, and more and more places like HBO and Netflix seem to be utterly disinterested in providing a platform for it.
At least can count on anime to bail us out with one halfway watchable show each season in between the 800,000 isekai infesting the medium I guess.

I think the bigger question is if Cartoon Network ends, what happen to Adult Swim?

What a great 30th anniversary gift. I mean, with no due respect to Asslav (great name, btw), I feel like Cartoon Network getting phased out would've happened with or without the merger. The old bosses clearly didn't care about the network, they had maybe five or six original programs, they'd even moved into airing live action films and television. That's "you had one job" territory. That said, no one made Asslav delete years of people's hard work just for shits and giggles, that's all him. Thank you.

People there and at Nickelodeon seem embarrass to be associated with cartoons and animation.

The first season of the ABC show Abbott Elementary was added today. Apparently, Hulu will get the new episodes as they air, then HBO Max will add the entire season at once a few months later. Since AE is a co-production between Warner Bros. and 20th Century Studios, Disney+ in the U.S. might eventually add it, too.

Do these people seriously think House of the Dragon is going to be enough to make up for all the cuts? I mean, no lie, the only temptation Ihad for getting HBO Max was Sesame Street and the HBO Films archive. Now I’m glad I never jumped.
I know we won’t know until two weeks from now minimum, but how big a subscription loss we think is coming from this?

I got HBO Max free with ATT internet at my last house and kept it when we moved and changed companies for Sesame St and DC/Peacemaker. But now with St gutted and the DC stuff I want I get on Blu Ray anyway Max will probably be cut soon.

"Which honestly sounds like the title of a sitcom starring Kat Dennings, that's already quietly disappeared from HBO Max. HBO Max. It's not TV. It's a series of tax write-offs to appease Wall Street." - John Oliver on the most recent episode of Last Week Tonight

I know this has been said to death, but having the best streaming service and deliberately tanking it is one hell of a move.

This is why physical media is so important.
Unfortunately, the majority on that list is lost media.

Not only is this an example of why physical media is so important, it's also a huge example of why 'they' will never get rid of piracy. Don't lecture everyone on why they shouldn't pirate when you're constantly showing the benefits of doing it.

A lot of people cheering this, but given this was no doubt by design, I'm not as chipper.

Weaken the company enough before they either likely sell again and take what assets they need from it. There's a lot to this that feels like that's the case here.

The 90-minute film idea was created by Victor Courtright ('Aquaman: King of Atlantis,' 'Thundercats Roar').
Given how bad those were, that didn't exactly fill me with confidence
