In short, the political atmosphere on the topic is even more lethal than the actual air, and the actual air is currently filled with DEATH. Yeah, it's like, we are explicitly allowed to react to the policies, actions, and statements of government officials concerning the pandemic, but those things have now come to include crackpot conspiracy theories, threats of violence, and political intrigue. Like, how do you not mention it at all? I mean, some things still are not worth mentioning. You do still need to use some personal judgement here. I am certain I probably step over the line sometimes, though.

Current update for here: We're back down to one active case, essential worker in his fifties who caught it via international travel. The batch from the last couple weeks have all recovered.

So the Irish Government announced a new long term plan with a 5 level ranking system where everyone is at level two...including Dublin where they’re putting other restrictions on...which doesn’t make it Level three for some reason. Also, the response to the protests this weekend were an absolute joke. When you condemn other protests that actually were social distancing and courteous to other people’s safety and not the one that wasn’t...Christ. Oh, and now our Minster of Health is unwell so as a result, the cabinet has to self isolate as they had a cabinet meeting about the situation earlier today. You really can’t make this stuff up.

Can we teach them how to use zoom? I think the “funnier” thing for me is that the moment one person is sick, the whole cabinet and parliament closes down for the week but schools haven’t closed down when there have been cases where pupils have to isolate but anyone around them doesn’t have to self isolate who might live with them. It’s just been a massive farce.

Oh, so apparently according to sources, the cabinet are going to “restrict their movements” rather than self isolate.
Because that makes all the sense in the world.

And another update, parliament will open up today since most of the politicians involved were nowhere near anyone in Cabinet so Junior ministers will take over and answer the questions given to them by the opposition.
Which leaves the cabinet to self isola-, I mean “restrict their movements”.

Ok, final Irish related update for today (I hope)
The Health Minister, the one who fell ill and needed to be tested, got his results back as negative.
This is after days of saying there’s a backlog in tests and it’s straining the system.
Just...just wow, man.

Coronavirus was a test for the world. It was a way to see if enough of the population and governments were reasonable, and responsible enough to deal with a serious crisis.
For the most part, IMO, the answer has been no. The virus has exposed a great deal about society, and what has been revealed is extremely concerning.

So apparently, on the 5 step plan set up, Dublin might be at Stage 3 by the end of the week. Whatever the f*** that means.
Even reading the plan, it just seems like the same sort of restrictions put on us as there is now except we’re not in Stage 2.5 or whatever it is.
I keep saying I’m angry about this because I am. And I keep saying we were considered a world leader in this stuff because we were. Now we’re a joke and have our own collection of knuckleheads like the British do.

The funny thing with Ebola is because of how much Africa has dealt with it over the years, they know the best way to deal with it quickly and efficiently. Why do you think that case of Ebola earlier this year didn’t go beyond the first few cases? Because it’s gone again. It’s also why the cases of Covid in Africa are lower than most developed nations. They’re used to dealing with that stuff.

They’re used to dealing with that stuff. They are also more rural, generally speaking (yes, I am aware that Africa has some fairly well developed regions as well). Rural areas have, on average, been slower to be affected by the pandemic as person to person contact is just lesser there. When it does hit them, though, it's bad.

So it seems any decision about any new restrictions on Dublin will happen on Friday.
It’s Wednesday. Why are you taking two more days when it clearly needs decision making right the hell now?!
I know, I’m sorry, but man. We are just...man...
