For the sake of context and not to absolve Ferrara of the mocking, but the gimmick started in WWF, with Ferrara, Doc and JR all involved in the angle. Really? I just remember Ferrara doing the impression backstage to make Vince laugh. They did it in creative meetings and apparently JR was in on it and thought it was funny at first but things went too far in WCW. But yeah as others mentioned Doc felt that JR sabotaged him. I need to listen to JR'S side but I'd guess he probably got a lot of heat for hyping Doc up and tried to probably get the heat to pass

It's literally the same thing. I'm not defending it by any means, but saying it went too far in WCW when it was the exact same thing in WWF is misleading.

FMW? As in, Onita's FMW? This is the first I've heard of this. Was around the time they ended the deathmatch stuff and tried to go "legit." Vader and Shamrock were sent over for a match. HBK went over as well to ref a match. Supposedly, Shawn going was to make up for Doc refusing to go work a match there after FMW was promised him. I have no idea what WWF/E got out of the deal. That Vader/Shamrock match was basically a Shoot Style match in a cage.

I kind of think of the, "Get paid, nothing personal." stuff like when Arnold called up Jim Cameron about doing Terminator 3.
Arnold was hesitant since Cameron wasn't doing it, but Cameron told him, "This character is just as much of yours as it is mine. Do it, have fun, and ask for a shit ton of money."

The title of the thread keeps making me think of him in the musical.
"WHERE THE WIND COMES SWEEPING DOWN THE PLAAAAIN!"

You can tell he's less than enthusiastic about it. Look at the crappy flailing of his arms, the weak throw off the stage and the way he walks off.

He looks like he was channeling Lord Tensai with those crappy karate chops. I think Doc being pissed at JR is more of him believing his hype and being pissed that he wasn't still the bad ass killing machine he once had been. Bart was a total jobber by 1998 so it had to hurt Doc's ego to know he lost to him plus the overall losing of the tournament after believing he would get a main event run. If anything, JR was maybe too good of a friend bringing him in and trying to make him into a bigger deal when way too many guys were hungry for their chance to get over in the Attitude Era.

Apparently everybody got tired of Ross always boasting about how tough Doc was and they actually popped when Bart knocked him out. Also Doc came over with the promise of Ross that he was going to be a top guy.

Just listened to the Grilling JR podcast.
JR and Prichard thought that Doc was gonna win brawl for all so they didn’t even had a contingency plan in the event that Doc lost.
Doc held animosity after JR had to fire him.
It hurt Ross that Doc was involved in the Oklahoma skit but he understood that Doc was just following what creative told him to do. He never had any ill will towards Doc.

I can understand why JR would change the subject when having to let go Dr. Death. It was one of his best friends who was being let go for no fault of his own, Dr. Death. JR hyped him so much that Doc probably had huge hopes and expectations only for it all to be crushed. He's partially at fault if he thought he could go into BFA and beat everyone but it sure does stink that the event ruined him. It's also really sad that he passed so young. I wonder if people who dislike JR would like him if the bells palsy hadn't happened. I don't mean that to be negative to the fans but obviously with the illness JR talks very low and deep and what he does say generally comes off as bitter or negative but it's unfortunately the paralysis of his face that has affected this. If it were early 90s excited, high pitched JR I think the fans that dislike his commentary or his actions might think differently.

I don't get what JR had to do with Dr. Death getting pummeled in the BFA.

I don't get what JR had to do with Dr. Death getting pummeled in the BFA. Sounds more like Doc was convinced by JR to do the Brawl for All because they didn't think he could lose. Also sounds like JR constantly hyping Doc rubbed people the wrong way and supposedly the wrestlers found out that WWE was rigging the scores so Doc would win

I know according to Bob Holly, Doc said he hoped Bart didn't get heat because the office already paid him (Doc) the prize money
