I think the lack of a standard crowd brought extra focus on his commentary, to its detriment.

I lost count the number of times that he interrupted, talked over, or shut one of the others down.
Like how often was Beth trying to say something, Mauro interrupts her to say, "Beth what do you think of...." only for her to have to start over.
I'm starting to get the feeling that Mauro's voice is the only one that matters to him, and the criticisms fall on deaf ears b/c of it, thus his sensitivity and no one can say anything to him about it.
I love his energy. I respect the path he's had to walk to get where he is esp after watching his documentary. But I'm starting to wonder about him stepping all over everyone's toes, but no one can say boo to him about anything. You can't just take and take all the moments, you have to give some back too, if that makes sense.
In short he needs to let commentary breathe, and have more than one voice.
Is it better than main roster? God yes. He doesn't sound like a soulless Vince-bot like Cole, but he needs to dial it back a bit and share the table.

The thing that has to be said, though, is that this stuff and concerns have been spoken for so long and so consistently that it becomes less of a “Mauro” problem and more of a production problem. Basically, if HHH hasn’t gone to the guy and said those concerns yet after so long, I’m taking it that they’re fine with what he’s doing which isn’t really great optics. This isn’t me taking any complaints away from him but, well, the Nia Jax situation is the first thing I think of when I see this still going now.

"Adam Cole fell like RAIN... and his NXT Championship REIGN... could be about to go down the DRAIN"
I'm normally alright with Mauro - he's annoying but he's also unique so I can live with it - but he had some super bizarre lines tonight. Perplexiglass! was another.
On the positive side, I think Beth Pheonix has improved massively and is one of the better commentators in the company.

I do like Mauro but sometimes he is just so cringe to listen to. He isn’t at Matt Striker levels of awfulness for me yet though.
Tom/Tim/Felipe Phillips I do like though, he might be the best commentator WWE has. Of course even he has to stick to the awful WWE’s buzz words but it’s his job he has to. At least he doesn’t shoe horn in awkward references.

I think he's bad every night but this was new lows of awful. Like, "Matt Striker shoehorning in EVERY SINGLE LITTLE f***ING POINTLESS THING JUST BECAUSE HE CAN" awful. On the last TakeOver I watched, probably War Games, I'm pretty sure Mauro referred to Io by about seven different nicknames within the first two minutes she was in the ring. I felt like I was listening to Joey from Friends using a thesaurus.

Working a 3 man booth isn't easy. Leading a 3 man booth is even harder. Leading a 3 man booth when all 3 are in separate locations is just insane.

This is where Nigel is sorely missed. He usually reigns in Mauro

I don't think it's any surprise that I can't stand Mauro, so hearing he was terrible is just status quo to me.
But I have to say, I am SO tired of not being able to criticize him without someone immediately going, "But, his problems!!! You're a dick!!"
Look, I respect the man for overcoming his issues and powering through. His determination and drive is absolutely tremendous.
That said, it does NOT make him good at his job. People overcome personal obstacles everyday. This does not mean that they are automatically good at things.

I thought we couldn’t say bad things about Mauro.
Remember. He got bullied and we were all pissed about that.

He still cracks me up. I love the forced references.

He sounds like Don West had one to many apple martinis.
Normally that’s a good thing... last night I almost put it on mute.

As crazy as it is to say, the best commentary on years has been the night towards the beginning of the pandemic when Cole called an entire show by himself. Not the show with Triple H, but maybe it was the show after that. No arguing, no interruptions, not really an overuse of buzzwords. Just calling what was happening.

Yeah he was super bad tonight. But he did make a Nick and Mallory from Family Ties reference He was comparing Johnny and Candace to Bonnie and Clyde and Mickey and Mallory. Mickey and Mallory are from "Natural Born Killers."

I'll take some forced references for a commentator who actually sounds like he's excited by what he's watching. He's also equally good at trying to get the other commentators involved, I notice that way more than him interrupting.

I didn't notice anything to be honest.
Then again, I am a big fan of his.

I'd rather have some commentary from a commentator who actually sounds excited by what he's watching. See. People always say this a defense for him. You know who was better at conveying excitement while not detracting from the show and bringing attention to himself? Don West, I just said Don West was better than Mauro.
