He sounds like Don West had one to many apple martinis. Normally that’s a good thing... last night I almost put it on mute. At the Ho-TEL BAR! And yeah, Mauro’s work has gone from being a guy who was genuinely passionate (and GOOD AT HIS JOB because of it) to being a human bingo card, trying to “get his shit in”

While Mauro throwing out the pop culture references like they were going out of style (which most of them were) was awful, something else needs to be said about the crowd of PC recruits trying to recreate the usual chants. That was horrendous. I wanted to throw something at the TV when they started with the Gargano Sucks to the tune of Cena’s song. It was manufactured enthusiasm at its peak.

Working a 3 man booth isn't easy. Leading a 3 man booth is even harder. Leading a 3 man booth when all 3 are in separate locations is just insane. Are all three doing commentary remotely? I wasn't aware of that. But yeah, if so that's fantastic job from the three of them and whoever is producing. That shit is hard.

I'd rather have some commentary from a commentator who actually sounds excited by what he's watching. That's what I said? What I mean is Mauro's forced references have gotten so obnoxious that it completely overshadows any actual commentary he does, to the point where I can't think of any great calls he's made in a very long time, but I can recall a ton of forced references that just took me out of the match. Say what you will about the inane buzzwords and stale stock phrases regurgitated by Michael Cole week after week, they've gotten real easy to tune out. Can't do that with Mauro because of his enthusiasm, ironically. If he would cut the references by about 75% I'd find him bearable, but as he is he ruins every show he announces on.

I thought we couldn’t say bad things about Mauro. Remember. He got bullied and we were all pissed about that. There’s a gulf of difference between us expressing our opinions on a message board that Mauro probably never will visit and a coworker passive-aggressively humiliating someone on social media.

I like Mauro, but it feels like he’s put himself on a quota of references he has to meet and he’s gonna force em in there no matter what.

I like Mauro a lot more than most but Nigel is sorely missed. Poor Beth could hardly get a word in

I mean, the whole booth was pretty bad last night. Beth was screaming just as much.

Commentator's job is to help get people excited for the show.
Hard to do when the show was well below NXT's usual standard like last night's show was.

I hadn't heard him commentate in a long time, has he always communicated almost entirely in puns?
Also, him saying 'Beth, talk about...' was really, really grating too.

Mauro is so much better when he can feed off the energy of a live crowd (a real live crowd, not a bunch of PC plants). Take away the crowd and it seems so much more forced.

I wish he would change from pop culture references to wrestling references.

I'm just tired of hearing him yell "THE YOUIE!" everytime the Undisputed Era makes a run in.

Then they followed up on Monday with that “you still got it” chant that made me think I was watching a funeral.
