I'm 41 years old and for the first time in about 18 months I've decided to open myself up to dating again and the person I'm interested in seems to be interested in me too.

Not today but a couple of days ago
It was my 40th and I usually keep my birthday pretty low key but arranged a meal and everybody bar one showed up (and he had a legit reason not to) so it's good to know/reaffirm I mean something to them

For the first time since late April, I'm able to walk around outside the house without the use of a mobility aid or fear that my knee is going to go out from under me.
I still can't handle staircases and I can't go any faster than a walking pace, but progress.

My job interview went well,or seemed to at least. So fingers crossed I can get the new job and be on more money than what I'm currently on and for less hours too.

I figured out the "potato" button on my microwave actually does make potatoes basically perfectly. I am so used to these things being a waste of time that I hadn't tried it. This frankly will save me an not insubstantial amount of time considering I eat baked potatoes at least three times a week.

I have been highly amused by something on our local news. There is a crawl at the bottom of the screen that includes traffic updates. In the last few days, our Los Angeles television station has reported traffic incidents in Pahrump, Nevada and Lake Havasu, Arizona. Both of those places are a five hour drive from LA.

For the last several days, a particular bill has been debated here. Idiot relatives received this bill from the company we get our fuel from. It is in their name and is for entitled nephew's "apartment". Because my mom recently ordered fuel for this part of the house, idiot relatives got it into their heads that the bill they received was wrong and that it had to be for us. Both were insisting this. Yesterday, my mom called the company and they confirmed that this was not the bill for the fuel delivery (which is in the mail), but apparently one for renting the fuel tank for said "apartment". Idiot relatives apparently didn't know they were going to have to foot the bill on a rental. This amused the hell out of me for a good chunk of the day. EDIT: Idiot brother still arguing it's not their bill, but once again shut down by the arrival of the fuel delivery bill!

Someone from my job was asking for someone if I wanted to go out on a date with them.
I had to decline because the age gap seems too much for me, but just the idea that someone asked felt pretty good

Alex Jones taking that $965 MILLION L It's ridiculous. How did him saying it's a hoax cause these parents not to earn 900 million dollars? You can't just say "you said something I don't like and disagree with, therefore, I'm suing you for hundreds of millions of dollars that I never would've seen in my life otherwise". In a sane world, you have to show how this kept you from getting money you would've had otherwise if it weren't for what this person did to you. How did him saying it's a hoax keep these parents from getting jobs and earning their own money? Are they trying to say "if my kid would've lived, he would've won the lottery, but he died, so now you're going to win the lottery for me?". "I don't like the guy" and "give me hundreds of millions of dollars that I never would have seen in my life to begin with, all because this guy that I don't like said something I don't like or agree with" are two different things. These parents would have had to have 900 million coming in already that him saying it's a hoax caused them not to have in order to sue him to get it. This is like the oj civil trial, ron goldman was a waiter/busboy at a restaurant and nicole was entirely funded by oj, but somehow they would've made 33 million in their lives after that if it weren't for them dying. These were kindergarten kids, and they're playing "here's what they would've made if they had lived", which is total speculation and day dreaming, and they're suing the guy who said it was a hoax, not the school district/police department/guy that actually did the shooting. What are they basing their damages and the number off of? Civil cases need to be kept to "he drove into my car and injured me. Therefore, I'm suing for the money that I would've made otherwise and to return things back to normal". Suing someone because they said something you don't like is too "mommy mommy, he's being mean to me, make him stop!" for me

Suing someone because they said something you don't like is too "mommy mommy, he's being mean to me, make him stop!" for me This is supposed to be a happy thread, you might wanna take that energy to the "What made you angry today" thread guy I'm not angry, I was questioning "how is this a thing that can be legally done". I'm angry in the sense of "this is a thing that happens in the american legal system". How did the random internet radio podcast guy cost them 900 million dollars, and not all of the other people on the internet that said the same thing. You'd have to show "here's how this guy caused me damages, on this line, this line and this line." Ronda rousey said similar things: not being sued. This guy: sued. You can't sue some random, unrelated person to the incident, because they said something you don't like about it, or everyone on the internet would be suing each other. How did they arrive at 900 million dollars, and not "buy them lunch and say you're sorry"? They sued the company that manufactured the gun, that after it left their factory, they had nothing to do with it or how it was used. The fact that "we make the product. how you use the product after it leaves our factory, we have nothing to do with" isn't a legal defense. At a certain point, this gets ridiculous. Move on with the thread, just you quoted me, so I had to respond and clear that up. I'm not mad or anything, I'm completely calm. I just was questioning "how is this actually a thing that can be done" and what are they basing this and this number off of. Move on with the happiness thread

Liverpool winning pretty comfortably tonight, 7-1 to be precise. Despite conceding the first goal of the game (again lol). The Salah of old finally came through when he came of the bench tonight and got himself the fastest ever hat-trick in Champions League history.
Also, I got the job and I start the new job on the 31st of October.
