Having her as a Japanese brand ambassador? Great idea. But they have more chance of an NXT Antarctica than an NXT Japan. I don't think there are any plans for an NXT Japan right now. She would probably be in a role similar to what Sareee is doing right now (albeit slightly different circumstances, as Sareee is just waiting to be able to relocate to the US, as she was originally supposed to move over in March, but the pandemic hurt that), in that Sareee is currently covering RAW and Smackdown for J-Sports, and talking about storylines and such. Kairi would likely be in that same role, along with doing PR work. Outside of a paycheck, why would she want to stay affiliated with them? It’s not like they treated her wrestling career very well. It's been widely reported that her and WWE are on very good terms right now (she's also near universally loved backstage, there has never been a negative report about her). And she mentioned shortly after she got married that she was strongly considering having a family very soon. A career in WWE that isn't physical would be a safe choice for someone who will probably be pregnant by this time next year if she's telling the truth. But why should she want to stay with them in any capacity? They mostly wasted her talent and more importantly continued to put her in matches against a dangerous opponent where she got hurt multiple times. Why sign any kind of contract with them? Leave and live your life in Japan free of the WWE. I’m sure there are plenty of other companies in Japan alone that would pay her and treat her better than WEE did.

Haven’t heard about WWE mistreating her in any way? Unless you’re just talking about booking her against Nia, which is a weird definition of mistreatment.

I know it might be shocking to some but there are individuals who like working for WWE and being under their umbrella.

Sean Ross Sapp had an update on the Fightful podcast that just aired a bit ago. Well a bit more details anyways.
He mentioned that WWE is going above and beyond any other offer they've offered other people in the past in order to get Kairi to stay, even in a non-wrestling role (and yes, this includes letting her move back to Japan and working from there). And yes, its because they realize she could be the #1 women's star in any other promotion. But also because she's one of the most popular women's stars in Japan.

Which then begs the question, why didn’t they ever do anything with her other than being Asuka’s reason for vengeance?

Well well well
Seems the reports about her being affiliated with their Japan offices might be true. Seems she's got a desk job. Great for her.

Isn’t this a picture from when WWE toured Japan or the UK from some time last year? I swear I’ve seen this picture before. I’m a big Kairi fan and I have a thing for women in glasses so it’s resonating with me for some reason

I'm not even sure how things are in Japan with Covid and everything these days. I'm assuming she'd be wearing a mask if so.

(I know this is an old post and sorry about dragging you into this thread again a month later) WWE can know someone could be a big star somewhere else but never want to let them be because they won't fit into the vision/aren't a favorite/aren't the "plan", and so rather than push them, they just give them tons of money and keep them on ice, because it's better to have them languishing in nothingness for lots of money than to have them go make anyone else money, even if it's less money than they're paying them for the chance to sit home. It's all very confusing, but goes back to the same attitudes and instincts Vince showed during the '80s, buying stop stars from the territories but then not really using al ot of them in top star capacities, because having them under his thumb was the important part.

Glad she is doing well and is super happy.
Still hope she returns atleast one more time to either tag with or give us that match Vs Io.

A match between her and Io would rock if Vince gave them a decent length, particularly if it was a Mania match as that's a match I'd like to see at Mania. If she came back and won a title though I'd prefer a solo one though
