No this isn't about his last actual match in TNA in 2004. This is about the match he had with Rick Martel 2 days after Wrestlemania 7. I just watched this on the network as its part of the World Tour 91 Coliseum tape. Sean Mooney hypes this as the last time you'll see the Macho Man in the ring as he was "contractually obligated" to do the match no matter what.
Thats all fine, and everything. The reason I'm wanting to talk about this match is the finish. Martel pretty much dominates most of the match, but then at the end Savage PILEDRIVES him on the floor, then rolls him back in and drops the big elbow on him. Holy shit! I mean thats some out there stuff for a simple Coliseum exclusive match. You didn't even see stuff like that in the Attitude Era. Maybe its not all that big a deal, but to see that kind of finish from 1991 just blows my mind. Granted the WWF was getting a little more edgier, and violent in 91, and early 92, but this was just a Coliseum match that probably wasn't gonna have a huge audience.
To anyone else who has seen it, what did you think? And to those that haven't give it a watch because its just surreal to see something like that in a WWF match from almost 30 years ago.

I have a very vague recollection of seeing this. But I forgot my initial reaction.
Sounds like the "storyline" reason would be Randy was pissed off about WM7 so, despite getting whooped the whole match (I did not enjoy that aspect of Randy's post-Macho King career), once he got the chance to let Martel have it he let Martel have it. lol

It's a good use of an old school killer move - the big damaging WTF manuever actually is the fatal blow, and not just one of the 50 moves the guy tries at the end of the match which he might win. FYI, this match seems to have happened as part of a huge multi-hour Wrestling Challenge/Prime Time Wrestling taping done 3 days after WM7 in Reno, NV. You'd think there would be enough programming on the card (over 30 matches ) to not several dark matches.

Nobody brought His career ending match With Warrior they knew he would be back Wrestling sooner or later I did but I was 12 and don't think I'd ever seen a career ending match before. Plus, the way he went out was really good. If it indeed had been his last match, it was a powerful end to his story.

This is reminiscent of one of the craziest out of place spots I can remember in a WWF match. Roadie vs. 1-2-3 Kid at IYH 2 ends with an AVALANCHE PILEDRIVER in 1995 WWF. Seriously insane, and an underrated match IMO.
