Anyone following the new series?
I'm not sure I dig the sudden budget increase, but the show seems just as funny as ever. Hope they don't 'reveal' too much as the show's supposed to be a riff on mystery box tv

Is it better than ever? You thought you were safe because it's the Off Topic section?

I know... because it's cheap and they can fill 15 minutes in the most lazy way possible >_> but still.

I used to think that Adult Swim would routinely have some kind of internal contest to see just who could find the cheapest and laziest-looking programming to greenlight, because why else would this show exist?

If this can come back I don't know what is stopping Aqua Teen and Metalocalypse from coming back. Adult Swim is under new management which was the whole reason those shows were cancelled and blocked from returning so... it'd be nice if we could change that

Still, it had a definitive ending so where would you go after that? Then again, I cut the cord long ago and still am a season behind on the Venture Bros (amazing how much patience is being given to that show). I likely wouldn’t watch any of these anyways. Now, resurrect Moral Orel, on the other hand, and I will sign up for whatever service I need to watch that.

Murderface's infection. Fallout from CFO ascending to head the Church of the Black Klok. Whatever the hell the Falconback Project is, beyond involving nukes. Seth's kid having glowing eyes. Maybe even killing off Abigail. There's still quite a bit that can be done for one last season.

Honestly, the amount of times that show gets talked about, they’ll probably find an excuse to bring it back at some point. Like, they brought back Squidbillies and now this. I’m pretty sure all bets are off.

I mean, it isn't the worst thing they ever put out, but it wasn't good either.

I remember loving the original Adult Swim 15 minute cartoons - The Brak Show, Sealab 2021, Harvey Birdman, ATHF. But they ended and what followed just seemed to get worse and worse with each successive replacement. There were a couple of exceptions, but then one night I'm watching things like Minoriteam and Tom Goes to the Mayor and all I can think is "why am I still doing this to myself?". To this days I'm still curious if there was a genuine drop in quality (was The Brak Show really that much better then something like Mr. Pickles?), or have my tastes simply changed over time?

They even aired commercials for it that basically called people stupid for not watching it. Of course, they've never had the brightest ideas for advertising shows. Anyone else remember their jumpscare adverts for The Heart She Holler?

Eh, The Brak Show was stupid, but I'll take dumb frat boy humor as opposed to genuine shock and gross-out humor, considering every joke that doesn't involve "Mr. Pickles is a demon possessed dog" involves going past the point of good taste at 120 mph while flipping it off. I guess it seems like you have to be a certain age group for most Adult Swim shows, and even the ones people gush about, like Rick and Morty, are an acquired taste, which I've gone into detail in the past on this forum why I don't care for that series.

The punchline of 12 Oz Mouse was that it looked so half-assed and every individual moment was idiotic, but then it also had this incredibly intricate plot that required careful attention to get. Sounds hard to recreate.
I'd WANT then to bring back Moral Orel, if anything... but actually I'm not sure anything can top the roller coaster the original show was.

I think that it is the best thing that Adult Swim has ever done, though Venture Bros can give it a run for its money. The first season was just good, but the rest is fantastic.

Thing is, the way it turned out wouldn't have meant as much if it hadn't lulled everyone into the complacency from the first season.

I guess it seems like you have to be a certain age group for most Adult Swim shows, and even the ones people gush about, like Rick and Morty, are an acquired taste, which I've gone into detail in the past on this forum why I don't care for that series. I mean, The Brak Show was simply a piss-take on the classic 50's-60's sitcom, so I enjoyed it well enough as that. I loved the concept of SeaLab 2021, where 1 full year of isolation severely affected the mental health of the entire cast. Harvey Birdman was also enjoyable because it had such a weird take on the courtroom dramedy. Frisky Dingo took FOREVER to get to a point that I enjoyed it. It got there, but I'd expect better from the makers of SeaLab 2021 and Archer. Minoriteam should never have been greenlit, but it was greenlit by the same people who ordered Assy McGee. SuperJail! was an interesting show. If I ever get back into playing D&D I would probably introduce The Warden, Jared, Alice, a steampunk Jailbot, and The Twins as NPCs. It was the characters that made that insane show work. Stroker and Hoop had the potential to be good. I thought it was okay, but understood why it failed. The various Tim and Eric stuff had some really enjoyable stuff mixed in with some god-awful stuff. I think Tom goes to the Mayor may have been their best work, which says a lot. I do remember liking the concept of their movie, though I yet to see it to know if it was good or not. I was really hoping that Adult Swim would take over The Oblongs like they did for Home Movies.
