Sorry, I just gotta get this off my chest somewhere. So I work at a Casino, we reopened July 1st, and with the restrictions on number of guests in the casino, number of guests per table, and that everyone has to wear masks, my anxiety has been pretty under control since I got back (missed my last week of work before shut down cuz my anxiety was blowing up over the COVID news). With my wife currently at the end of a high risk pregnancy, and the fact that I have my elderly parents living with me, we’ve been EXTREMELY careful and taking all of this COVID stuff seriously.
Well a few days ago I get to work (I’m a dealer/dual rate) and what we’re told is “so many supervisors called off we can only open one pit.” We normally have three open. That’s a lot of supervisors. The other day, they suited me up since they’re so short still, and the word going around is still “guess a bunch called off and used their IMLOA’s.” An hour and a half into my shift, my buddy texts me (one the ones who have been mysteriously off), and says “hey at work? Suited up I’m sure? Just so u know, everyone’s off cuz of COVID exposure.”
So apparently there was exposure to COVID on the 3rd and the 10th at LEAST. Only people who were in contact with that person for “ten minutes or longer” were notified and told to stay home and get tested. Everyone else was led to believe people were just “calling off.”
My thing is, as a dealer, if this person comes up to my table for twenty seconds, I’m either touching his cash or his chips, either way that’s direct contact and I’m exposed. But they didn’t tell anyone! I had a panic attack right there in the middle of the damn room I was in, confronted my supervisor and then confronted my manager. Manager tried to downplay it “I’m not gonna say NO ONE tested positive, but it’s not in the double digits.” 😳😳😳
So I finish having a panic attack in front of my manager and I go home and now I don’t know what the f*** to do. I have to keep working, the unemployment bonus is just about run out, I don’t really have a choice. And with my wife being pregnant, I absolutely CAN’T lose my insurance right now. At the very least I’m not going back until I get test results back (despite possibly already having it, my wife convinced me that going to work possibly having it is just as bad as everyone wearing their masks on their chin or under their nose) so now I’m losing money to protect everyone else while all these people not wearing masks could give a f*** about me.
WEAR A f***ING MASK! WASH YOUR f***ING HANDS! ITS NOT ABOUT YOUR f***ING RIGHTS, ITS ABOUT PEOPLES f***ING HEALTH!
I just feel like shouting that at everyone I see being a dipshit about all this. And I’m soooo mad at my workplace for keeping all this hush hush and making me have to find out second hand. If there was exposure, it should have been announced to give people the option to choose not to be there. Cuz if I bring this home to my wife and anything happens during this pregnancy, I’m gonna be livid.
