He only really had a few good moments as a face: feuding with Triple H and immediately following the breakup of Evolution, his work with Eddie Guerrero (RIP), and his work with Rey Mysterio, the latter of which lead directly into a great heel run. |

I think you're both undervaluing his heel runs and overvaluing his face runs. He only really had a few good moments as a face: feuding with Triple H and immediately following the breakup of Evolution, his work with Eddie Guerrero (RIP), and his work with Rey Mysterio, the latter of which lead directly into a great heel run. I think that's largely the reason why I prefer Batista as a heel, he never overstayed his welcome. As a babyface he would always spend all my good will from his turn by being a whiny bitch.

1. Rowdy Piper wore the jacket of Jokerit (at the time one of the biggest hockey teams in Helsinki), but there was a slight 'roblem...
2. WWE was so dumb they did not know that Hartwall Arena is also the home place of HIFK (the other team of Helsinki's) / WWE seriously thought it would make Rowdy seem like face. LOL. About 8,000 to 10,000 people booed this guy like he was the biggest heel of the century. There were more HIFK fans in the building during that night.3. Simon Dean and Rowdy Piper exchanged words. Simon Dean promised one planted FAN money, if he could do 10 push ups. Before the dude could finish, he attacked him. 4. Batista was injured during this time. He was still the champione. The whole place exploded when he came out! If I remember right, he at least spinebustered Simon Dean to the mat and celebrated with Piper and the fan... 5. See that #MarryMeBatista sign there? Welp. On the other side of that sign read #RIPEDDIE / Chris Benoit took that sign after his match and raised the thing above his head in memory of his friend, who had passed away a week ago. BUT THE WHOLE ARENA JUST LAUGHED AT HIM 'CAUSE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE f***ING SIGN READ #MARRYMEBATISTA! |

It's more to do with the sheer amount of time he spent as a face, plus what is a highlight reel going to show? So much of that highlight reel is going to be shots of his babyface entrance with the pyro going off, and clips of his explosive power offense, mostly Spinebusters and Batista Bombs. And the moments that launched him into stardom are the babyface turn and title win off of Hunter. His heel runs are superior without a doubt, but things like his douchey promos and his Bluetista compression sleeves don't make for good B-roll. You might get the Mysterio turn, the spotlight, and him beating up Ric backstage, but you'd be lucky if that got a quarter of the time that's devoted to him machinegunning fireworks. |

That was my big problem with Dave. He spent years being an okay babyface, then he turned heel and it was AMAZING. Then he quickly left. It's like "Wait, you finally entertain me and you're gone?!" |
