James Kochalka albums. Some of them are nearly impossible to come by due to varied methods of release and outdated media (some are just old cassette tapes or were only sold packaged with comics he drew).

A lot of CDs on eBay. If I do find them they’re way more than I’m willing to pay. Belphegors “Necrodaemon “Terrorsathan” was always $80+ until recently some guy in Russia started selling copies for $15.

This prob sounds like an easy cd to find anywhere it's freaking Motley Crue but Shout at the Devil.
If I searched online I'm sure I could have found it but for ages I looked every local record store, music shop and Thrift Store and nothing. I did check eBay they had it but to much money.
I randomly found it for 5 bucks this week.😐

For a long time, it was Stanley Kubrick's debut film, Fear and Desire, on Blu-ray. Specifically, the long out of print UK release from Masters of Cinema. Not only is the transfer is superior to the American release, but it also includes all 3 of his short subject films made prior to the film's release. The day I finally found a copy on eBay, this cinema nerd was pretty much doing cartwheels through his living room. I know this feeling well. I had two major gaps in my otherwise complete ROH DVD collections: 'Danielson vs the World' and 'Best in the World 2015.' In summer 2016 after three years of not seeing it anywhere, a sole copy of Danielson vs the World popped up on eBay for $100. I messaged the seller asking to see the back of the discs, and they were immaculate. I figured, it'll end the hunt and I can have it as my "Started a new job" gift to myself. To this day, it's the most I've ever paid for a single DVD, but the feeling of finally having it made it worth it. I've only seen it pop up three times since, twice for significantly more and more recently for $109. Best in the World took very long to find. I wanted to have all the ROH PPVs, and this one had a notoriously small production run made available due to shipping out physical copies to everyone who got the PPV. It took me until 2018 to finally find it listed on eBay. It was $40, but I hadn't seen any trace of it anywhere else and smashed the "Buy It Now" button. Felt darn good to have caught 'em all.

Weekend at Bernie's 2.
Apparently, the only way to watch it nowadays is to grossly overpay for the DVD. (Or buy the VHS, for those who still own a working VCR.)

Just looked at amazon. You can get Bernies 2 on DVD for about 15 bucks. Or buy a pack of 1 and 2 for like 20.

I remember when I was first getting into wrestling in 1997, we had like no modern games to represent WWF. I really into the era before I began watching (New Generation), so I was still very interested in that. WWF In Your House was the game to get for that, and at the time I only had a Sega Saturn and not a PS1. I remember going to Funcoland and finally finding it, but the damn game was $70. I love the era that game represents, but those of you who played it know that game is NOT worth $70. A lot of Saturn games I wanted were pricey, and that's part of the reason I sold it to put money towards PS1. Wish I still had my Saturn, but I got In Your House on PS1 for like $20, so I was happy.
I used to work at a video rental store, and we had a copy of Pikmin 2 on Gamecube for rental. That game was very hard to find and was becoming astronomical in price (this was before the New Play Control version on Wii came out), and when my store suddenly closed down over the weekend, I bought the game outright for around $3.
In regards to music, Virgin Megastore was also a lifesaver for me. I remember when I was first getting heavy into Porcupine Tree in the mid-2000s, I had most of their core discography but not the multitude of side albums/live albums. A lot of their stuff was out of print or only available in-stock in European online stores. I went to Virgin Megastore in Florida (the one that used to be in Downtown Disney/Disney Springs), and I found all these obscure albums of theirs on CD i.e. Warzawa, Voyage 34, Coma Divine, a 2-disc version of Signify...I was in heaven. I spent like $130 on music during my trip there. I also got a bunch of WWE DVDs there and, randomly, a Bubble Bobble t-shirt.
I loved that place. They closed it down a few years later.
As of right now on my 'hunt list', I'm trying to track down a box of DKC2. I'd prefer sealed but would definitely settle for just the box unsealed for a fair price. The few local media stores that remain in my area have only had DKC3.

Hobgoblins 2 that's not insanely priced
same for Wrestlemania 16, my copy isn't the best and needs to be replaced
it skips over Chyna and Too Cool vs The Radicalz, a chunk of Hardcore Championship battle royal and a lot of skipping in general

To think there was a time you could get this movie in a paper sleeve with an order at Pizza Hut. Thinking back on it, that was probably like 20 years ago, but still.

Somehow I lost a bunch of my Generation 4 and 5 Pokémon games and I guess those are in high demand or something because finding real cartridges for them is super annoying.

Nintendo made Gamecube games that aren't insanely priced. I'm not even exaggerating. The free shipping puts it over the top...

Jesus Christ, $73. I wonder where my copy of Super Mario Sunshine is.
I'm a fan of nineties rock music and I like to collect vinyl, but because vinyl was seen as a dead format at that time there are a handful of albums from that period which are quite scarce, and where buying a copy would involve parting with exorbitant sums of cash. I've long sought reasonably-priced copies of It's A Shame About Ray, Come On Feel the Lemonheads, and in particular Car Button Cloth, all by the Lemonheads.

As more buy/sell/trade physical stores disappear, WWE DVD's are starting to get harder to find in the wild. While you can still find some, and they aren't all that expensive, stuff from the early 2000's is becoming a rarer sight. Sure you can easily find them online, but the thrill of the hunt is gone. Personally my collection is HUGE, and I have pretty much all the rare region 1 stuff. But I do miss going hunting for them.

Here in Canada, the DVD of "The Sword and The Sorcerer" is around $80... apparently it's common and cheap in the U.S..

Just looked at amazon. You can get Bernies 2 on DVD for about 15 bucks. Or buy a pack of 1 and 2 for like 20. I saw the double listing on Amazon, but the reviews were mixed, quite a percentage of reviews said the 2nd movie's disc wouldn't play properly. So I got worried. Anyway, I just saw today that both movies are currently on sale digitally. $5 each to own outright (which is pretty much the same price as a digital movie rental) so I just bought them both.
