Brackets for Impacts Tag Team Tournament. ![](https://i.ibb.co/3NmzZKP/CAA5463-D-F59-F-4-D8-B-9820-62274-C2529-CF.jpg) Some interesting new names apart of it. I will say with the five woman’s matches on Dark, Baker’s show, and the Deeb vs. Rosa match I’m excited about the steps they are making. But I think outside of Deeb or Rosa new talent is kinda treated like enhancement or lower tier. Where in Impact when someone debuts even if they aren’t known to the fans they’re treated like a big deal right away. I know it’s AEW loves their ranking systems and their pecking order booking. But the woman’s roster isn’t deep enough for that. [b That Impact tourney should turn out better than the Deadly Draw.

Does anyone know what the deal with Shanna is? I saw on Twitter that she left her husband and her own country to come back to AEW.. this was posted in September. Did she swim across the Atlantic? Surely she should've been back long before now.

Surely she should've been back long before now. Yeah, I remember it was going to be a long process because of travel restrictions. Something like travel to this country, quarantine, rinse and repeat. Could be back in the states and just training to get back into ring shape, I'm sure it's been awhile since she's had a match. One of the things about the pandemic I think we tend to forget. You can exercise all you want but ring rust will still be there.

But the woman’s roster isn’t deep enough for that. [b Good for the Sea Stars to land there, if they're not just guests. Plus, like...having someone debut with some hype and dominance is good for everyone else. Imagine if Brian Cage had come in and jobbed to Jericho and Cody when he came in? I get that Lindsay Snow and Allysin Kay and Leyla Hirsch aren't a draw on his level, but any one of them could have come in with a little hype, maybe a manager, and been a legitimate feud for Shida instead of having to do job duty before even getting started. Shida's reign certainly would have been stronger for it. I feel like it's easy to go on a win streak and make the records more valid, Abadon did it, it's just a matter of "You dont want them to lose too much" At the end of the day though, the records are resetting in just a few weeks. At this point the losses hurt less so maybe now is a good time to get them in so you can reset them and then go from there. Hey any little thing helps for the division I'm sure. Especially for the likes of the young lionesses. Even for the likes of a Kay, Hirsch, and Snow who may sign.

Shanna is a workhorse for the division and had great matches with the likes of Shida, Swole, and Nyla already.

I liked it too Problem is consistency. Next thing before you know it he is getting stripped to his underwear in a match by Dustin That was brutal. I'll be honest, in kayfabe, I lost a ton of respect for Spears after the infamous underwear incident. I simply can't take him seriously now. This was one of the weirdest booking decisions I have ever seen, and I have not stopped thinking about it since because of how weird I found it. Stay with me here, but there is no reasonable explanation for having Tully's face on ONLY the ballbag of your underwear. His face blown up on your ass because it's the biggest flat surface, like wrestling trunks? Sure! On the front and back, symmetrical? A bit weird, but fine. A polka-dot pattern, that is just Tully's face? Put them in the merch store, I am buying seven pairs. But just Tully's face over where his cock is? Guys, he had to get these made. You can't just buy those. Somebody made those. Did Tully make them and give them to Spears? Is he grooming him? Did Spears get them made himself? How can Tully even be in a room with a man who has got his face emblazoned on the crotch of his underwear without being instructed to? And last of all, why is this guy and lukewarm Scorpio getting a TV match? 5 Women match for next weeks Dark, so they are finally going to bother building the division. What we have learned is that any number of great PPV matches and actually main eventing a Dynamite to huge pops is not enough to give an indication they are bothering to build the division. The fact that I have seen no matches by over half of AEW's women's division because I don't watch Dark is part of the issue. I'll believe they've bothered when they actually bother.

You should watch the women's matches on DARK. Like they seperately upload them to Youtube after a few days. I dont know why people dont bother at least checking out those as I can understand not wanting to go through the big hours long chunk of DARK to find what they want. Also that booking decision was on Spears, so at least I can say it wasn't some dumb bullshit thought up by writers who shouldn't be writing a wrestling product, it was by Spears, and I believe he himself admitted it was a miss with the fans but I guess he's not above having some self humiliation angles.

The thing is, even the good stuff on Dark is generally just...well, quick matches, and that doesn't address the issue with the women's booking at all. Getting a steady stream of Leyla Hirsch and Abadon squashes isn't a bad thing by my book, but it's also not the kind of storytelling momentum that is so crushingly absent. In other words, it's neat as its own thing, but it's not a replacement for the thing that's missing. Anyone unsatisfied by what's on Dynamite isn't getting anything new on Dark besides the occasional neat indy tryout.

There should be female versions of the segments Inner Circle and Cody get on Dynamite. A women's Stadium Stampede match would be fun too.

I feel like that's a good measure of it: for all that Cody has (rightly) criticized WWE doing things like a women's War Games or a Hell in a Cell just to do it and say it's "history" while a lot of us roll our eyes...the goal needs to be, book women's feuds that would logically lead into big, memorable matches, which might be gimmick matches.

I'm not giving them the slightest bit of credit for anything that happens on Dark because the show is completely meaningless. I know it has its fans, but it's just a random Youtube show and the extent of acknowledgement it actually gets on TV 98% of the time is just them showing the results in a ticker without even actually commenting on them. Dark is there to pad people's win counts so that someone like Scorpio doesn't just look like a random nobody who only shows up on Dynamite to lose even though he hasn't actually won a match on regular (not Late Night) Dynamite since March.

DARK is also a place where wrestlers stay loose and try out new moves and finishers to add to their moveset, where we see wrestlers start out before they get signed and is the reason some of them even get signed, where certain wrestlers get mic time and promos to try and find character and also a place where some feuds can happen and even segments and such can bleed into the main show for it to matter or make you want to see what happens. Along with great commentary from Taz, Excalibur, and Ricky Starks every week that honestly helps the time fly by quite easily. They showcased Hobbs on DARK, he got signed, Velvet? Signed. Hirsch? Also seemingly signed. Top Flight? Showcased and now are getting a prime time match vs The Bucks, The Acclaimed became a team and got over real quick and got signed. They give wrestlers a paycheck during the pandemic, exposure, time, and sometimes, they get contracts out of it, and new fans. I know several talent I've seen on DARK won me over fast because they ain't treating it like a "meaningless" show. Sorry I guess I'm tired of people saying DARK doesn't matter when theyre clearly doing things to make it more than enhancement matches, if it isn't your thing fine, but I'm just fed up with people shitting on what is essentially fun and free weekly wrestling content for people to watch if they're so inclined. I just don't see the drawback to it.

They're also doing stuff that has storyline ramifications, and had the Feud of the Year in Cutler Vs Avalon.

I can't remember.... did Big Swole get hurt? I haven't seen her in a bit (I don't watch Dark, so maybe she's there?).

She might have missed a set of tapings, though, because she somewhat conspicuously didn't show up at all for about a two week stretch.

Dark may be a fun watch but the point of this thread is to point out what needs to be done with the women’s division and “more matches on Dark” isn’t the answer when it’s pretty much a meaningless, albeit enjoyable show. Similar to a Velocity/Sunday Night Heat back in the day.
