That's a lot of talent that's going to be out of work for at least a few months, assuming they actually do come back. Unfortunately, AEW, NWA, and Impact can only bring on so many people and WWE has taken a "no more indie wrestlers" stance on new hires. to try to make this into a somewhat positive spin if ROH doesn’t come back there could be potentially another company that rises from this and there is still MLW, GCW, PWG that the wrestlers could potentially go to and rose that company up a bit I wouldn’t get my hopes up on those, at least not for many years. None of them have the kind of backing ROH has had under Sinclair and it’s unlikely any of them are near getting it. GCW is not really a made for TV product, and PWG isn’t really designed to run more than just a handful of shows a year. MLW might have a chance to rise up, but I don’t know if their backing is as sure footed as it needs to be for that to happen quickly. ROH and Impact have been in a pretty unique position: TV products for media companies that can be syndicated or simply run on channels their owner companies have, rather than entities that get cable deals ala WWE or AEW. It also means they’re not indies, so they can’t fully operate the way promotions like Beyond or GCW do. It’s a very strange place to be, and it makes projecting what the future looks like from here very tough.

I hope its a restructuring and not a total shut down. A complete reboot wouldn't be the worst thing for the company, as they kind of been doing the same thing they had been doing ten years ago, and industry has changed a lot since then. I dont want anyone to loose their jobs but this gives talent the chance to find work else where and I hope a lot of the talent is resigned, I'm glad the longer deals will at least be paid through March. Focusing on tv and not so much the touring aspects on the company, might be the best idea going forward as thats how Impact, MLW, or NWA are running business.

What would be wrong with WWE buying the library? I mean atleast there it has a chance to be released in some capacity since AEW doesn’t really have a stream platform.

Man... I credit ROH for rekindling my love of wrestling back in 2003/2004 after a few years of not caring. I've only caught a handful of shows over the past five years or more. Anyone here want to fill me in on some names I might not be familiar with but should? I only just found out about Danhausen, but already somewhat familiar with Lethal, Briscoes, Castle, Gresham, Bandido, and PCO from either older ROH, PWG, or other random shows.

Danhausen is already teasing he's going to AEW.
He was on Jericho's cruise teaming with Will Ospreay to face Jericho and Orange Cassidy

Since I'm a pessimist 99% of the time I'm going to switch it up and be optimistic about this. Them having an arena booked and even with the generic statement I think they really are evaluating things. Do they go back to live tv tapings or keep it like it is? Do they focus on how they were operating pre0pandimic or carry over into the future how they're operating currently? Something like this doesn't happen in a snap for companies of this size so I think they've been evaluating things for a while and the fact they have signed new wrestlers and adding new dimensions (women's division) gives me hope. I've been watching ROH for the last few months and it's now top three for me and I hope they come back.

The first time I saw Joe/Kobashi on The Wrestling Channel in the UK felt like a big moment for my wrestling watching habits. Especially since before that point, they seemed to show the same “set up to the ROH/CZW feud” episode repeatedly.

This makes me sad. I haven’t watched ROH in a while but my first time at a wrestling show ever was Final Battle 2006 and no show I’ve been to from any company since has topped that experience for me. I hope things work out.

AEW is apparently working on a streaming deal with Warner, likely via HBO Max. So if the ROH library is for sale, that's a good shot of instant content for a fledgling streaming platform featuring a good chunk of your current roster.

Bryan Danielson vs. Roderick Strong at Vendetta was the moment of pure joy that finally broke me out of a months-long post-first-breakup teenage depression. That match doesn't get a lot of specific talk, maybe because of the segment where Danielson is vamping to kill time while the ref seems to be checking on Roderick (which didn't even register to me until a recent rewatch), but it's a stunningly good match and arguably the match that made ref stoppage a viable finish in US pro wrestling again, as well as being the blueprint for Danielson's title matches from then on - and like, the blueprint for Bryan Danielson ROH title matches is one HELL of a blueprint, because those are some of the best matches you'll find.

Really, Punk's final run in the company as ROH Champion when he was on his way to WWE was so good. His signing his pending WWE contract on top of the ROH Championship belt was such a dick move and I loved it. It's also when he first started using Cult of Personality as his entrance theme.
