I just want to see someone in a crowd with a Sting mask, which the heel removes to reveal Danhausen, who stuffs teeth in their mouth.

Impact outliving ROH is certainly something I didn't expect to see. Roh has nearly died before, they were losing millions prior to Corny and if he hadn't arranged the Sinclair deal, they'd be archive material on the WWE network now. The difference is it wasn't played out in public, the way TNA's woes were, and people liked the product so didn't stop to ask how a company drawing crowds of 3-400 could afford to fly people in from the west coast and Japan every show.

If the first step to restructuring is to fire the entire roster, "getting funds in order" is the last thing on their mind. These are moves made by Sinclair to liquidate the organization and sell off assets to the highest bidder to recoup losses made by other gambles that failed and nothing more. The hope would then be that ROH ends up in the hands of someone better than Sinclair. Because people have hated Sinclair owning ROH for awhile now tbh. If the tape library goes up for bids I see Khan going for it hard. Honestly I hope Vince bids 10 million for it, and then they sell it to Khan for 9 million

Seems that the issue was Sinclair and not ROH itself, the moment Sinclair shuts down, its game over. Well, it’s kinda both. ROH itself suffered massive losses during COVID, but likely could weather the storm with Sinclair’s backing. Unfortunately for ROH, Sinclair is in very bad shape right now and are going to be looking to pinch every penny. Any division of SBG that is losing money is gonna be getting thoroughly examined right now.

So they are basically a PWG now. That really does seem to indicate that Sinclair is hard up and on the brink, but this still absolutely sucks for the guys and gals who were pulling in steady, solid paychecks with ROH acting as an established, non-independent brand. Ideal scenario: ROH returns, gets buzz for it, and new investors come along to prop it back up to at least "mid market" status, getting it away from a potentially failing Sinclair and some place safe where it can, at least, go back to being a place that provides steady employment for more people in the wrestling industry. More realistic best case scenario: ROH can act like PWG or GCW but with greater exposure given that they're not leaving TV. This can still lead to better pay days for people as they act more like a "super indie" ala what they were back in the day, and maybe the product grows from there in a way that creates more stability. Whether either comes to pass? Very tough to say. In some ways they've been doing this a little already, as a decent number of people on ROH over the last year have been there on per-appearance deals - I'm pretty sure Chris Dickinson, Tony Deppen, and Homicide all are, as were many of the wrestlers who participated in the Pure tournament (e.g. Fred Yehi and Wheeler Yuta) or the Women's tournament (Willow, Kay, Savoy) but who've stuck around to do more shows. Curious how many will keep popping in with that being the case.

The thing is, if Sinclair sells it, what is it really then besides a tape library? Part of what Sinclair offers is a TV outlet. Without that they really don't have much. I mean it's like what the NWA was when corgin bought it. You get the name and the belts, but that's it.

So Impact automatically moves into being the 3rd biggest promotion with then MLW and I guess GCW pulling up from there if ROH is indeed done. Crazy. MLW is 3rd for me.

Sigh...
I hope this leads to something big for ROH in the not too distant future, but I'm not holding my breath. I was really excited for what could've happened at the 20th Anniversary show, but now that probably won't happen at all.
I have been a fan since 2003 after buying the Era of Honor Begins DVD at FYE. I have almost every VHS from '02 to '05. I have been to almost every Michigan show they had, and was happy to be at Kevin Steen's farewell. I even helped the ring crew after one show. They were my home to go for wrestling after I rejected WWE.
It's funny. If you had asked me in 2006 if ROH deserved their own show on a good network and in a prime time slot, I would've said absolutely. It is the best wrestling on the planet. 2006 will go down as not just a great year for them, but a great year for wrestling fans because of ROH.
I have been critical of their growth, because I wanted more for them, but many companies have not only adapted their style, but are now doing it better. Their time had come and gone, but their influence lives on.
They had a lot of very talented and unique wrestlers that needed a place to showcase their abilities. I wish many of them luck going forward.
Good luck to all that had a hand in ROH, and thank you.
*firm handshake*

I always thought TNA/Impact would go under first. I never would have believed this could happen even four years ago much less back in 2010 or before, RIP ROH In the end, only the Roaches and TNA will exist. Humanity will be reduced to Betty white, Keith Richards and Abyss doing thumbtack bumps

I wouldn't be surprised if this was the end for ROH as a separate entity within Sinclair, with it merged into the Bally dports side of things, the library given to their streaming platform as much needed, non local sports content. They'll continue producing shows, but with no long term contracted talent, aside from title holders, just back to super indie, with no flying in talent from Japan.

I do have to say, another part that hurts here, depending on how this all ends up, is that current ROH had a lot of appeal to me as a promotion that felt more "live events focused" rather than TV focused. Subjective thing, I know, but promotions like them, NJPW, and others of that vein have a presentation that emphasizes the live experience and in-ring goings on, and a promotion like that likely having to downsize is sad to see.

TBH, as heartbroken about ROH as I am, I wouldn't cry much about Sinclair as a whole going down for reasons I can't get into here. Especially if that means ROH can go to being a separate entity again.

Given that it led to the best thing to happen to wrestle in ages, It's fun to imagine what if they did sign.

I do kind of miss this from the "old days". The TV shows were used to get people to the live events. Even during the Monday Night Wars, when in hindsight you could see things moving away from that, there was still discussion within the shows of where they were going to be over the next couple weeks (on days other than Monday). I remember JR always saying "there is nothing like see the WWF live".
