I was hoping this would be the case
Midway's handling of the Mortal Kombat franchise has been pretty masterful for the most part.

Alongside Sonic and Pikachu, so far this is part of the Video Game Movie Holy Trinity. I'm ass at most MK games, but I saw this in theaters twice, it was that hype.

As someone who used to play MK 1-3 as a teen, but is just now getting into gaming as an adult with my PS4, I would appreciate any recommendations on newer MK games or collections of old ones. I personally prefer games that are fun as opposed to games that are challenging btw.

I personally prefer games that are fun as opposed to games that are challenging btw. The two latest Mortal Kombat games (X/10 and XI/11) are excellent and just as fun as the original three. With most of the characters you remember in either one or the other (I think only Stryker & Mileena have missed the cut completely, though both were in MK9 but that isn't on PS4). Both have decent single player stories (mkx follows the shinnok story from mk4 with some new twists, while mk11 goes for a time travel style recap with elder gods trying to alter the past in there favor). Arcade modes and online stuff have plenty to do that isn't just getting beaten down by some really good player. Both have dlc with special guest characters along with old favourites. The fatalities are still as gory as ever. It's all good for both games really. Not sure there is a collection of the old mk games on ps4? Capcom put out a Street Fighter 30th year anniversary game which includes every game from SF1 to the last SF3 game in one. |

You have totally sold me on downloading at least one of those MK games (gonna do it based on the roster, the ninjas like Scorpion, Sub Zero, Reptile, Smoke, etc. were always my favorite but I'm interested in the special bonus characters like Freddy Kreuger and stuff too) and also I now want that Street Fighter Anniversary game too. |

I'd replace Sonic or Pikachu with Resident Evil until we wait a few years and see if those two age well and are fondly remembered. Resident Evil wasn't bad and at least sparked a huge series of films. |

Would Wreck-It Ralph 1 count, even though it’s an OC with multiple licenses? |
