According to FightfulSelect, multiple wrestlers confirmed to them that the part with Vince saying that he "owns their given name" isn't true so take that part with a grain of salt. It also makes sense given Mia Yim changed her Twitch name to her real initials so, yeah. Still with that being said, they're still on that clock. Wonder what'll happen in 30 days. I wonder who they'll try to punish first. The "owning names" thing I really hope isn't true cause it opens up more cans of worms But yeah this is gonna be an "I dare you" blink first sorta deal, Vince isn't gonna win here

Paige saying "f*** that shit Vince." Good. We need more to say this. Fight back. She literally broke her neck for that company twice. Now they're trying to cut the income maker she's got for herself seeing as they won't put her on TV anymore. Good luck.

Not just that, but think about how much of a risk that gambit is. Among the people with twitch accounts are, sure, people like Mia Yim who he doesn't give one crap or another about. But New Day? AJ Styles? There's a risk that if they feel like their own ventures might be in danger, they're going to want to pull the hell back when it comes time to re-sign. Every stunt pulled on the roster loses them more people, and if they start f***ing with their big players on shit, it's going to end badly for them. That's part of it though. Vince sends this out, everyone gets up in arms. On Monday or whenever they have an actual talent meeting, Vince can walk some of the more harsh demands back and the talent, from the big names to the bottom of the card, calm down enough to not make a stink about it anymore. In a way, it's trying to manipulate the morale of the locker room. I think Vince wanted to get some control of the situation while he could still be in front of it. I think that's why he did this now. But for how many people would this be a final straw? "We have to fight our boss to keep him from taking away really menial shit for arbitrary reasons" isn't a life anyone wants to lead when they can make money elsewhere. The problem with pretending to be a huge asshole in the hopes that when you compromise people chill is that some people are going to get hung up on the time you were a huge asshole and not really see the dropping of the issue as benevolence. Marking yourself as the guy who needs to be talked down from a "no more playing video games for the internet" rule is not the social leverage you seem to think it is. This could be the factor that makes people decide they're leaving when their contracts are up, compromise or not.

Vince is like a jerk ass school principal who will ban anything the very second it causes a minor inconvenience.

I've seen some people arguing that WWE has the right to do this. But even if that's the case, why? I legitimately don't understand their cost benefit analysis here. If you're pissed about what people do on their streams, address it with them. If people want to speak their mind, they don't need Twitch to do it. Other jobs do this, but you are an employee and not an independent contractor. So I have no clue how this legally is possible. Also yeah some wrestlers on social media and other platforms say a lot of dumb stuff (reminder of Rheas Twitch gaff) so this is his way of micromanging that I guess.

Now, let's go back to that really uncomfortable Bayley interview from last year. Bayley tried to slide by with that "we gotta entertain our fans" shit but that didn't work. I honestly think its pretty dickish to ask a wrestler this, what do they want them to say? Its a lose-lose for them. If you really want to ask someone ask Triple H or Vince.

But, and this needs to be said again and I’m sorry it annoys people, none of this has anything to do with other social media accounts. This is about stuff that involves them making money from that stuff. So, like, Nia can say whatever she wants on Twitter and make the company look like they don’t care about the health of their workers but Nia can’t interact with fans on a video stream. They micromanage talent in the weirdest damn ways.

I mean, it’s not if you hear from every other sports team or entertainment medium that they support their talent in this ways. Of course you’re going to think that it’s the norm for cars and such to be provided.

Mike Rome just said this on Twitch.
Mike Rome - "So a lot of us will be changing our Twitch usernames so it doesn't mention WWE in the slightest, legally there is nothing they could do in this case."

Whether you agree or not that WWE are able to make things hard for former wrestlers using their gimmick names, if I was a WWE superstar I’d be pissed to find out my given name is not my own. I’m an attorney (though not an intellectual property attorney) and there’s absolutely no way that’s accurate. I feel like that has to have been misquoted or something. Its more likely that he’s saying that the company has the right to control talents’ public appearances, even if such appearances are made under the talent’s real name, while under WWE contract, which is more plausible. I was just replying to the included quotes brother. I mean for years we have known there’s a difference between an wrestlers real name and their wwe name. I do wonder if it’s a reason why many wwe superstars on Twitter have changed to their real names but left the actual handle their wwe name.

Didn't most of them already do this? Like it just seems like WWE's being extremely petty even trying to do this to people So basically they could be allowed to continue doing everything under their own names, but are they even allowed to promote when they stream on their other socials? Or would WWE throw a fit about that? The semantics of this are so stupid that the fact it's even happening is incredible. Like how the hell did we get to this point with WWE...
