Both The Office and Parks and Rec got second chances after their first seasons failed to retain my interest thanks to my wife. Those episodes truly do fail to do their respective shows justice in retrospect. I have a weird thing with both of these shows, in polar opposite ways. Parks and Rec I had seen a couple episodes and it did nothing for me. Then, a couple years ago, I watched a few episodes almost on accident, and wound up becoming a big fan. The Office, I had seen a couple episodes that I enjoyed, but then tried to sit down and watch the show, and I cannot STAND it. And it's pretty much 100% Michael Scott's fault. I abhor that character, and I generally like Steve Carrell. He makes the show unwatchable for me. It’s kind of funny; personally I liked both shows & found them pretty similar. But almost everyone else I’ve talked to about them liked one or the other, but not both. Different strokes, I guess.

I was such a big fan of the Office that I assumed the American version was terrible. I only gave it a chance well after it had finished and now it's probably my favourite TV show ever.

I'm just now watching Parks and Rec and I'm already into season 5. It's hilarious.
