Retribution has felt phony since day 1. From having its existence and intentions announced on WWE.com, to them getting contracts (and even drafted to Raw) to the pitiful disruptions of the show; they're the anarchic faction as designed by clueless corporate execs. They're the heel wrestling stable equivalent to the chaotic teenager rebelling against his parents.. via moving into the family guest house. Yeah, from the jump this has been mishandled. Which is shown going back to the beginning of this thread. Ali being the leader could have salvaged it... but they need to let Retribution win literally anything instead of just being a pack of goobers. Literally everyone involved in this stable deserves better. I absolutely agree with y'all, totally. feels like a cheap NWO knock to be honest with more PG ingredients of a rebel faction that nobody can take seriously.

I think Retribution won the 2020 Gooker Award from what I saw on Wrestlecrap

I think Retribution won the 2020 Gooker Award from what I saw on Wrestlecrap Seriously, though, seeing it all written out like that, it's amazing just how consistently bad this storyline has been for almost half a year.

I’m honestly still not over what was essentially a press statement introducing them, full of weird buzz terms that no human would actually say out loud and introducing a new stable to wrestling like you’re a Silicon Valley based app company launching a delivery service for live chickens or something.

Lest we forget the first few weeks where they were Totally Not Antifa.

Lest we forget the first few weeks where they were Totally Not Antifa. They never did redo their gear logo wise to distance themselves from that either, making them this weird meta-political jab and f***ing Dark Knight Spirit of Halloween clearance section. I'll always remember the nameless hoardes causing minimal destruction that included throwing a cinderblock through an already broken glass door and one lone security guard yelling at them to "Go Home!" Seriously I wanted them to find something to do with Mustafa Ali but this was NOT it.

Say this thing dies off eventually and they go back to normal gimmicks and they get pushes of some sort. Is this the kind of thing that is gonna haunt Dijakovic or Maddin or Thorne or Yim in a “Let’s chant Husky Harris at Bray Wyatt” kind of way?
I didn’t say Ali because this wasn’t some massive wholesale overhaul of him the same way it was for the others.

I'd personally keep Mace's entire look in some way, because as shit as Retribution look, a lot of people have really liked Mace's look. Ali and Yim SHOULD be ok if they disband just like, move on to something else, act like this shit never happened. People like those two and want them to succeed. In the case of Dijakovic this has been awful for him. Dude's entire gimmick was he was a big dude who is extremely agile and they turned him into Konnor Bane and it's awful. I'd say if it hurts anyone, it hurts him. If eventually released I could legitimately see Shane Thorne taking bookings as Slapjack or some Non-Copyright version of him for the shits of it and get meme bookings out of the deal.

Given Ali was the hacker all along (as part of the reveal) I am a bit tickled that his plan was to bring down the WWE... but first I must get Otis and Mandy Rose together!

What's amusing is that WWE booking them so ineffectually makes this perhaps the most mild criticism of antifa one could imagine.
"Yes they'll be a touch disruptive for a bit, but don't worry you can sign them to contracts and they'll be mild employees in no time."

I'm a bit more tickled that he targeted Tucker like a week after he betrayed Otis, which unintentionally established Retribution as big Otis fans.

I see a huge twist about Retribution membership coming here...

I think the only one who's gonna be saddled with a negative is "Flapjack" because out of them all he's the jokiest one. All the others will do well once they go back to their original gimmicks especially Dijak. He's got the biggest ceiling out of them all (him and Ali).

I don't get to watch very often, but I saw Mace yell "This is for you,Slapjack!" before doing a move on someone and it still makes me laugh when I think about it.

Tbf Husky Harris didn't haunt Bray Wyatt? A few folk chanted it at his debut but mostly folk were "Wyatt Family are awesome". Bray has long since overshadowed his Husky debut.
Not in the same ballpark as Tensai or Red Rooster.

Tonight T-Bar and Slapjack lost clean to Kofi and Woods, because of course they did
More so Ali has devolved into a raving lunatic and not an entertaining one. He just screams that he "NEEDS TO EAT" and needs to get his due and screams at his lackeys to the point I wouldn't be shocked if this ends in a turn on him. Absolutely nothing like his promos or RAW Talk, making me think that they just don't want this gimmick over in the slightest and don't even want Ali to try.
He is legitimately making a run at being the worst faction leader I have ever seen. He and his entire group are just booked like f***ing losers that look like losers to match. It's all a mess. It all feels like a gimmick set up for everyone involved to fail and have their careers tanked due to it. To think anyone thought this was going to be a success is maddening.
Mercedes Martinez is one of the smartest people in wrestling.
