Houston has officially joined the Cincinnatis of the league. Not even the Jets are this incompetent.

49ers and Broncos "intrigue" DeShaun Watson Been knew about 49ers but Broncos is a new one I knew Denver was interested but the news surrounding Watson was always going from him having no interest in Denver to Denver being one of his top picks. Helps that he has friends and former team mates trying to recruit him. With all the rumors surrounding Von I could see them putting him in a package to try and make the trade happen.

Why are people reacting with surprise to the news of J.J. Watt's release? It was inevitable, and arguably the first logical decision the Houston Texans organization has made in several years.
Watt is entering his age-32 season and was owed $17.5 million in 2021. That's a huge chunk of money for a player who has struggled to stay healthy over the past five seasons (since 2016, his games played are as follows: 3, 5, 16, 8, and 16) and whose skills have regressed significantly since his prime years. He's recorded nine sacks over the past two seasons combined, a far cry from his 20-sack seasons of 2012 and 2014.
He's still a talented defensive end, but he's not just on the back nine of his career, he's on the 16th or 17th hole. The Texans actually were smart in cutting ties with Watt and saving $17.5 million in cap space. He'll be a good addition wherever he goes (Pittsburgh seems like an inevitability) but he's not going to be the game-changer he was nine years ago.

Why are people reacting with surprise to the news of J.J. Watt's release? I can't speak for others, but my reaction wasn't to JJ Watt. It's to everything else going on in Houston with the hires and the scuttlebutt rumors from players. Organization feels like it's not far from having players walking away or having the league step in to right the ship.

JJ Watt in his second healthy season in the last five wasn't good, like at all. Houston is forced to rebuild. Why would they throw heaps of cash at a soon to be 33 year old oft injured declining player?
Someone is going to go nuts because they sign Watt, but he's done nothing of great significance in years.

Except JJ doesn't have to be dominant JJ to help a team
Suh the last few years is still good but not the force he was in his career. That's where JJ is at and he's going to be valuable to a team who just needs him to fit in, he doesn't have to be the world stopper he was in his prime

Dude didn’t put up huge numbers but I just saw he was the #7 (of 124 qualifiers) ranked edge rusher per PFF. He isn’t washed yet.

Yeah, even if JJ Watt isn't the All Pro-type player he used to be, he's still really, really good. Especially if he's on a team with a competently built defense where he doesn't have to carry the load for everyone. It'd probably also help his chances of staying healthy.

Yeah, I know there are Colts fans that are like, "Man, it would be pretty sweet to have JJ Watt right next to DeForest Buckner on passing downs." Watt could totally excel under such circumstances where someone like Buckner, Aaron Donald of the Rams, or either of the Bosa brothers drawing double teams instead of him.

I dont think hes washed. I just think hes declining and more of a small piece to an established team rather than a game changer.
Dude legit had three/four years with LT game changer numbers

If you read the article....it is really worrying. His family reported him missing on Wednesday and the police found him alive two days later at the hotel. He was tested and deemed fine so they canceled the missing persons case. Today, he was found dead at that same hotel at 11:30 am.
I am thinking suicide here. Still sad.....RIP Vincent Jackson.

When I start hearing about athletes missing and turning up dead later, my mind instantly goes to Lorenzen Wright That had some clear red flags tho when he turned up shot to death

No signs of trauma... spend time alone in a hotel. Ugh, sounds like suicide.

Wasn’t it his wife who killed him for insurance money and tried to make it look like a drug hit?
