Some bands I was surprised not to see: Yellowcard Alien Ant Farm Tantric (especially since Luke is such a big Days of the New fan) The Ataris Not surprised AAF isn't on the list cause Luke hates the song Alien Ant Farm had Movies, they re-released it after Smooth Criminal with a new pop culture heavy video with a cameo that they probably still technically still owe the label money for, I remember that being big. Attitude was the song where you went this is it for them. Never heard a thing from them after or since. The last thing tehy put out that did anything was the song called Glow which was well after Attitude. teh song These Days was also after Attitude. I loved the “These Days” music video outside of the BET awards.

I remember actually going to HMV, putting on the sampler, and rocking out hardcore to "These Days". Still my favourite song of 2003.

I really loved that Flobots song. I'm actually surprised at how much mainstream success it got outside of rock stations with the lyrical content of the song of a kid growing up to become a corporate despot that nukes the shit out of all his enemies. It'd be like hearing Rage Against the Machine on Z-100. (maybe they were though lol)
Also had no idea the dudes from American Hi-Fi play with Miley Cyrus now. Make that paper fellas.

I'm shocked to see he hasn't been in Guns N' Roses yet though, which is a bit of a surprise since there was a period when I think every jobbing musician in the western hemisphere had been in Guns N' Roses at some point.

They should have been a bigger deal.

Crazy Town was one of the most shit things I'd ever seen come across my television. Dumb band name, awful music, no f***ing talent.

I've actually heard some of Crazy Town's other songs before Butterfly came out and they were pretty garbage and unremarkable. Butterfly being a huge earworm was like, the exception to the rule.

I kinda liked their song "Toxic" at the time, but "Butterfly" was already annoyingly ubiquitous by the time. It got drunk girls to dance, though, so...*shrug* I may be distinctly in the minority here, but I actually really enjoyed that album. I've also often wondered how many of the people who loved "Butterfly" were aware that it was basically a hip-hop track built around an RHCP sample, and not something the band had actually made from scratch. Most people who listen to hip hop don't give a shit that it's sampled music and stuff.
