Honestly, as good as he is, I wouldn't be too excited to see him regularly unless there's an actual plan for him. Off the top of my head, there isn't much that I would specifically enjoy seeing him do besides, well...lots and lots of good matches on Dark. Certainly not the worst thing, but if he slips through their fingers, he'll have good matches somewhere else if I feel like looking for them.

It's gonna make me so mad if AEW put him on Dynamite and didn't sign him. Then he signs with NXT. That would be major mistake by Tony Khan. I'm sure he'll get some offers from lot of place. Wouldn't be shocked if ROH or Impact at least expressed interest, even if they realistically would be bid out, probably. I know Eddie Kingston got a WWE offer after his Cody match, so this isn't atypical, and I think Santana/Ortiz also got a WWE offer pre-debut. The thing is they saw his Lee Johnson and Scorpio Sky match over week before they aired on tv(and he wrestled Starks before that). It's obvious that he's a special talent that everyone is going to want. You gotta get him signed before you air those matches. He's not like those other indie talent who might maybe have upside with right character or push one day. He had the IT factor and special talent.

He's a special in-ring talent that going to wow AEW fanbase. Hes gonna be over huge and baby face who wrestles like he does. Heck look at how he was trending on Twitter and buzz he got from Dark and Late Night Dynamite. Just imagine if he had killer match with Page, Omega, Cody, Moxley, Jericho, Brodie Lee, MJF etc. He can develop character over time. But he could show up tomorrow and Dynamite regular and be more over then a lot of the Dynamite regulars.

I don't think it is an accident we got a bunch of promos last episode of Dark, and ones promoting this next episode. Ben rocks, and I'd love to see him signed, especially to have matches with the likes of Jungle Boy, Angelico, Fenix, 5, etc, but I think we're comparing apples to oranges with what the two bring to the table.

Don't get me wrong I like Kingston he reminds me of 90s ECW wrestler that we don't see a lot of these days anymore. He's solid addition to the company in midcard and behind the scenes. But I think Ben Carter long term star for the company. In a few years or sooner I think people will be talking about him like they did AJ Styles in TNA, Omega or Will Ospreay in New Japan. I would hate for WWE to get him after AEW gave him exposure. It would feel like major misstep by Tony Khan. AEW isn't going to outbid WWE very often for talent. So anyone AEW gets from their are guys unhappy that often have been under pushed. They aren't going to be signing Ortons, Reigns, Rollins, Lesner or any of the other top guys. But they can beat WWE to the punch and sign next generation of stars. So you can't have talent like wrestling on your show and not get him signed. If Ricky Starks got signed right after his Cody match. I don't know how Tony Khan let Ben Carter leave the building unsigned after Lee Johnson and Scorpio Sky matches. Like with Will Hobbs I was a fan and hoped they would sign him. Because he's talented and had upside. But if they didn't sign him and he went to WWE. I would have been ok with it. Ben Carter though he's special and to be doing what he's doing at 22. You can't miss out on getting him.

It depends on how you look at it. AEW will not likely outbid often on money, but on freedom? WWE could not offer as much even if they wanted to. It's just not how the company is structured. Luchasaurus, Santana and Ortiz, etc, wrestle outside of AEW as much as they want to and have time for, and hell, Janela even promotes shows. Who in WWE has that kind of freedom outside of a Jerry Lawler type? That, plus the Twitch fiasco going on right now has got to be a really bad sign for anyone making the call.

You knew the WWE offer was going to come
But like with Kingston, it's a matter of where you think you're actually going to matter abd be used
And I think Carter has the best chance in AEW because they let people shine on a regulae basis. In NXT he'd be thrown into the Cruiserweights and be directionless. I really hope AEW gets him. As I said before, he is a top prospect, you don't let that slip away.

Maybe Ben wants to work for the WWE? This "they should have signed him" take is silly. He had a high profile match on their late night special. You don't think they may have offered him something. But he probably feels Rollins is a good bet to get far in the WWE.
This weird critique of not signing him is going to hurt indie workers from getting spots in AEW. If you like a person, and they sign with WWE, and you attack AEW over it, they won't let unsigned talent work. They've already hurt every ex WWE worker from getting jobs with AEW with their dumb "too many WWE people in AEW" take, when like it's 20% of the roster, now people want to hurt indie guys from getting shots on a national stage because Ben Carter wants to sign with WWE? Unbelievable.

Unbelievable. They gave him win on Dark and put him on late night Dynamite and showcase him. You don't do that unless you got the guy signed. All they did was make fans want him part of AEW and see him every week. Now AEW fan base is going to be upset if he shows up on NXT next month and not part of AEW. Which could loss of ratings during his matches on NXT. It's major mistake by AEW to let him get away without signing. It's one thing to have try out match with Ricky Starks and job in 5 minutes or so. But giving him long match and win vs Lee Johnson and long competitive Scorpio Sky match on TNT. You only do that if you have some agreement with him. That AEW can opt in a deal with him for the next year. Not allowing him to go to WWE etc. This is a business and not a showcase or tv NXT try out here. If his goal is WWE that's fine he can go there when his deal runs out with AEW. But you don't spotlight the guy like they did. Unless he's locked up. I hope they do have some option on him or he does the right thing and loyal signing with AEW. Because if he's on NXT in the next few months and turns into a big star. It's going to be really bad look for the company and embarrassing look for AEW. Since they found him and put him on tv first and it was all for WWE to snatch him up. Just like TNA couldn't get CM Punk or Rollins signed. Or passed on young Jon Moxley etc.

Its not embarressing, it wont hurt ratings, and instead your attitude is hurting indie stars from getting shots. Plain and simple the idea that you can't have some young indie people have a good match because WWE might sign them hurts the indied ALOT. Hurts things like Abadon, Anna Jay, Will Hobbs, and actually what's been going on since wrestling began. Instead of being obsessed with what WWE does, just enjoy indie people getting shots. Some will work for AEW, some will work for WWE, some will work Impact, but its the fans who win when they get to see young new talent.

For AEW to grow they need to have better product then WWE and equally high level of talent. You can't let 22 year old talent like Carter get away and sign with WWE. Yes it's good for indie guys and good for wrestling. But what's best for wrestling is for AEW to continue to grow and be even more successful. For that to happen you got to beat WWE to punch on signing young indie talent. Since they don't have millions to throw at Brock Lesnar or other big stars. So they need to build their own stars. Putting a guy on tv and create big buzz for new talent. Just for WWE to go sign him is just bad business no matter how you want to swing it

I see him as next AJ Styles, Will Ospreay or Kenny Omega without his weird personality. Outside of MJF and Page I don't see anyone on AEW roster with potential he has. So not signing him would feel like a major loss for a company trying to grow. If it was Will Hobbs or Abandon. Then I would agree with you. But Carter a difference making young talent for a company trying to grow. Losing him to WWE would be a big blow.

Dude reminds me of a young AJ Styles so far and once he finds his character and confidence he's going to be the complete package. Would be a shame to lose him to the WWE, not just because AEW would lose out on him but because WWE has shown with guys like Ricochet and Black that they tend to waste talent in meaningless matches and feuds. Carter would be the same I fear.

We don't really know the negotiations involved. WWE would be fools not to make him an offer and it doesn't mean it's automatically better or worse than anything AEW offered him. The kid is incredible in the ring, especially for someone his age, but if WWE signs him it's almost certainly going to be to a developmental deal since he is that young. And developmental deals aren't exactly the big bucks. Even with talent and his connection to Seth Rollins, he's not a proven commodity where he can just bypass the system WWE has in place.

This is where I'm at with it. Like WWE wanted to make Eddie Kingston a coach. He's a great example of going to AEW, betting on yourself, and making a splash. If Ben Carter wants to make an instant splash and an instant name for himself, AEW feels like the strongest bet unless someone like Impact or ROH chucks a deal out at him. Carter is great, so I just hope he signs somewhere. AEW seems to really love him, and I can't blame them.

That seems extremely unrealistic and just a way to try to shut down any discussion here.

Forum posting, social media, news sites, it becomes a hive mentality, with certain concepts becoming a wave of criticism. If indeed this criticism becomes something that makes its way to the people booking the indie talent and Tony Khan, then 100% that will stop indie talent from getting chances. If EVERYONE who works a show has to be signed, that's it, no more indie people.
