Good lord, Meltzer would go into “protect the precious” overload if Ospreay became the gajin ace.

It will be a disappointment if Jay ends up leaving (especially if it's for that clown show out of Connecticut), but I won't be too worried about New Japan if he does leave. Gedo is probably the best booker in history in terms of stacking the bench and having guys ready to fill a void all the way down the card. Ospreay- whether we like it or not, the push ain't going away- is more than ready to take the spot of top gaijin. EVIL has been established as a top heel as the former champ. In a pinch, they have guys like ZSJ and Taichi who can be elevated to upper card heels behind him. O-Khan is just at the start of his push that is without a doubt happening. They have a blue chipper called Karl Fredericks waiting in the wings, and you better believe they have plans for him. And of course, the big one- they open that forbidden door and Kenny f***ing Omega walks back in through it.

It'd suck is White leaves. In WWE he runs the serious risk of just being another guy, whilst in New Japan Inl really feel a slow build face turn would be amazing for him and the company.
That said, if he's living in Florida it makes 100% sense for him.to sign with WWE (or AEW) just for quality of life given the current situation.

Appears New Japan won't be shutting down over the lockdown in Japan that's on.

Yeah I don’t know. I feel like Jay White runs the risk of becoming “just another guy” in WWE and AEW.
WWE, he can slip into midcard status. AEW he could just as easily end up as part of an Omega goon squad or worse still being pushed for a few months before aimlessly wandering the midcard.

I dont trust WWE with White whatsoever. If he goes he goes, but I will be fully prepared for WWE to misuse him and his prime years like I've seen so many others.
I can't say he'd be better in AEW right now either because their roster is so stacked at the moment, I just hope Nw Japan keeps him, he's in a perfect spot there.

Good for Jay White if he goes. Go get the money while not being murdered in the ring working NJPW style. Not everything needs to be about wrestling being art.
He honestly can't lose, because even if he only has a decent WWE run, he'll still get a heroes welcome from New Japan at some point.

Honestly, if White can carve out an AJ Styles role for himself. While being younger and less beat up than Nakamura or AJ, wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.
I’m all for guys getting that bag if they can get it.

It's a winning situation for Jay
No matter what he's still young and going to get his paper. I would love for him to stay in NJPW but he has every right to consider all options and drive up his price tag
Y'all selling him short saying he would be a midcarder in WWE

It's just the one thing standing in the way is a 75-year old man who is utterly out of his mind and worse than ever. Jay in NXT would be a phenomenal addition. Him feuding with the likes of Kross, Gargano, Ciampa, Balor, Cole, O'Reilly, Priest. That's a salivating prospect. I don't doubt that HHH loves him as well. Probably reminds Hunter of himself from the early 2000s. Him on the main roster? Probably a world title run and a thousand U.S. and Intercontinental title runs. Like Nakamura except younger and less beat up. Not the worst thing in the world but, there's less of a ceiling if he went to AEW, for instance. Unless jealousy sets in. Which is always a possibility in those cases.

I know people will point to Ricochet and Andrade but here’s the thing. Jay is like.....10 times better than those guys and understands character work mixed with ring work. Could it still happen? Probably. But dude is a very special talent and has more upside than a lot of the other WWE failure horror stories. Plus he looks like Triple H in 97 so you know Hunter would be bricked up for him.

Which is always a possibility in those cases. The main worry for Jay is obviously the mood swings of the old man I think a little jealousy can set in for sure too since he is so young and highly touted at his age. HHH would def love him and strap the rocket to him in NXT. The only other concern I can possibly see is not having a ton of allies. AJ obviously knows people from the states and Japan. Jay was around as a young when Nakamura and AJ was there but don't know how personal their relationship is. Tho I don't think it will be much of a concern. He came from Japan where it is all about respect and I think like Alaister Black, he will fit in just because his attitude is so good

This would be the ultimate horror story if they failed Jey He is the complete package. Can wrestle, talk, has a good look. He is the HHH like heel you build around because his ability to draw heat is so good. Him vs Cole in NXT and their back and forth promos is just *chefs kiss*

Yeah, I think Jay White would do fine in WWE, or AEW, or anywhere he'd go. He's got talent and pedigree, and right now, if he got hired somewhere else, it wouldn't be cheap to get him, so it's likely that whoever paid would try to get the most bang for their buck.
I kind of hope he re-signs with NJPW, but he seems savvy. I think if he tries his fortunes elsewhere, it'll be because it makes the most sense for him.

The one thing that keeps circling in my head is, if Jay’s contract was coming up, and Jay (you would have thought) said he was 50/50 on what he was doing, would Gedo have made him so prominent in this years Wrestle Kingdom?
If it is true, fair play to Jay for getting piggity paid.

If it is true, fair play to Jay for getting piggity paid. To answer that question, yes Omega got to main event WK despite his contract coming up and NJPW knowing there was going to be heavy bidding on his name. Gedo doesn't really let the contracts interfere with his long term booking and it both cases those men lost to Ibushi and Sanada so someone got over If Jay was truly gone, they would have EVIL attack him and take over BC so NJPW is holding out hope they can keep him and not writing him out besides his promo he cut

Jay's got that Shawn Michaels-ish build to him so he's at least not doomed to 205 Live Purgatory if he's called up to the WWE main roster. My biggest concern with Jay White is that I don't think the WWE main roster will let him be Jay White in the way AEW or even NXT would. Part of me also really wants to see him have a competition with MJF on who can be the biggest piece of crap in wrestling.

Ibushi apparently became the first man to kick out of the Blade Runner. English commentary was wrong on that. Omega kicked out of one Blade Runner at New Beginning in Sapporo 2018.
