I wouldn’t mind EVIL winning, but I don’t see that happening.

Togo, Yujiro, SANADA, White and Ibushi. This match has so much interference.

Naito retains.
Not sure what EVIL does now that he lost and Jay won.

OOF I had the reverse with Jay winning the G1 and Kota winning the case Wonder where they go from there Yeah, I’m fascinated by the decisions here. Doesn’t this hurt the credibility of the G1 if the guy that won it isn’t even gonna have the title match at Wrestle Kingdom?

And the fact that the G1 winner hardly ever wins at WK as well This also looks bad on Ibushi and makes him look like a choker. Wins the G1 twice and finals 3 straight years and can’t get the job done Will see if Jay really walks into WK as champ but I do not like this from Gedo. Long term booking is fine but it is time to strap Ibushi up and you could had Jay take the title off Ibushi sometime next year

Not really, especially since it's isn't ETCHED IN STONE~!!!! that Ibushi won't have a title match. Remember, there's two nights in WK again. So Ibushi will probably be in a big match in night one, win it and challenge for the title in night 2. Or Naito is gonna be the good guy champ and give him the title match regardless because he wants to fight him since he did win the G1, regardless of the briefcase and Jay becomes the afterthought who has his guaranteed anyway.

Oh, Wrestle Kingdom is two nights again? Cool. Haven’t been following that closely but I knew Ibushi had won the G1 and the title shot, so when I see that White won it from him, I was like “Is this a good move or what?”. Like, I’ll trust the judgment of those who watch New Japan regularly more than my own here.

I'm not too fussed about Ibushi losing the briefcase. I think it had to happen at some point, and Ibushi winning the G1 twice in the row means he can afford to take the hit. The briefcase is just a plot device to move things forward for the Dome, the G1 is still going to be prestigious regardless of what happens afterwards. I think we can definitively say that EVIL won't be involved in the title picture at the G1 though, and it's clear that there's at least some form of a plan with Ibushi. I thought for sure he was gonna take out Naito at the end there.
Also, let's be honest. They telegraphed the hell out of "Ibushi's still getting a title shot on the 4th", with Jay being very emphatic about him taking the 4th off. I just hope that it's for a single belt.

If I had to make a bet on one upset from last night, I promise you White beating Ibushi would NOT have been the one I would have put down the money for.
I sense serious shenanigans at the dome, still.
