Bellichik wondering if he should have kept Jimmy in the back burner and taken the cap hit for a few years. Brady would been out of there sooner then he was if they kept Jimmy G If I was Bill I'd have given him an offer on being phased out into a coaching/training position on the team while Jimmy came up to prime over maybe 2/3 years? I mean I'm not an expert but it's better than whatever the hell this is.

Bellichik wondering if he should have kept Jimmy in the back burner and taken the cap hit for a few years. Not even a little. Jimmy couldn鈥檛 do shit with the team NE is fielding. He legitimately has a hard time throwing more than 10 yards down the field, and has the perfect coach/playbook/teammates for his lacking arm in SF. Cam is either happy with mediocrity or he's just happy collecting a paycheck.

I mean I'm not an expert but it's better than whatever the hell this is. Brady doesn't want to be a coach. Brady's preparing to be a health guru with TB12 once he's finished. He wants to be the next Tony Robbins. Belichick made the right call trading Jimmy G. There was no way they could keep both QB's and Brady was still at the top of his game in 2017. Hell he was the MVP. Belichick's mistake was trading Jimmy to San Fran. He should have shopped Jimmy around for the best deal. The Browns were reportedly willing to trade their first round pick they got from the Texans that year for him. That pich ended up being #4 overall. With that pick Bill could have drafted Sam Donald or Josh Allen to be Brady's heir apparent. Hell even without that pick he could have drafted Lamar Jackson. Instead he did very little to find the next guy.

Instead he did very little to find the next guy. I'll never get on Belichick for choosing Brady over Garoppolo in 2017, even if he chose the then-40-year-old over the then-25-year-old, because in the years that followed, the Patriots went to two Super Bowls and won one with Brady. There's no doubting that in the immediate short-term, the right call was made. But the Patriots always seem to have a plan, and when it comes to the most important position on the field, they seem to have been caught with their pants down. I don't know if they were confident that Brady was going to return to New England this season, but this is the first year during the Belichick Era where there doesn't appear to be a succession plan under center. Cam Newton's clearly not the long-term answer and even if he succeeded this season, he probably wasn't the long-term answer. This season with Newton was always meant to be a fling in Foxboro. For Newton, it was a way to get a big-money, long-term contract elsewhere in the NFL and for the Patriots, it was a way to get one last bite at the apple with this current core. I agree that their biggest error was selling as low as possible on Garoppolo. They landed a measly second-round pick from the 49ers when all indications were they could've had one (or multiple) first-round picks from Houston or Cleveland. And if you want to talk about striking out, look no further than taking Sony Michel one pick ahead of Lamar Jackson in the 2018 NFL Draft.

In the postgame press conference Bill Belichick just said that Cam Newton is the starter moving forward.

In the postgame press conference Bill Belichick just said that Cam Newton is the starter moving forward. The best you can hope is Cam manages to turn it around but he looks so unsure out there and has the worst set of skill players inthe league. His margin of error and ability to get bailed out is razor thin. If Cam is really deteriorating before our eyes than the Patriots offense is about as bland and pedestrian as the Jets.

That was so dumb on so many levels. Why not try to get more yards? Why did the clock almost run out on the first field goal attempt?

I don't have any rooting interest in this game (other than for fantasy purposes), but I'm going to be pissed if this ends in a f***ing tie.

The NFC West is crazy good this year. You know it's competitive when SF might be the "worst" team.
