How about Rico being in 3 Minute Warning in the first place? (to the extent that they were a 3-man tag team) Yeah he went from feminine ambiguous character to serious tough guy only to go back to the former? They were accidentally progressive with Rico's character. He was (briefly) a gay guy whose character traits were not based on being gay, and then he was, I think, the very first lgbt face the WWE has ever had. The Haas team wasn't even that weird, looking at it, for anyone who's seen the awkwardness of the Gay Best Friend and the Boyfriend trying to get along. Anyway, even AS a tough guy, he still looks weird hanging out with 3 Minute Warning.

I actually liked that team. The Hulk Hands spot was funny.

Speaking of Erik Watts, in 1999 WCW, he teamed with Jim Duggan. If that's not a random tag team pairing, don't know what is.

Maybe it made more sense if you were a regular consumer of the product at the time, but that 2 Cold Scorpio and The Sandman were not only tag partners but tag champs in ECW blows my mind.

I'll stick with my John Zandig pick as way more random, considering the Watts family history with Jim Duggan in the Mid-South. Hacksaw knew Erik since he was a child. With the exception of may be "Dr. Death" Steve Williams, I honestly can't think of a more logical veteran wrestler to team with Erik Watts than Jim Duggan. Good point.

I feel the Test/Dlo thing was to blow off the Dlo/Jarrett/Owen/Ivory/Debra stuff and they just chose the person who was the most relevant in the BR to be his partner. It serves its purpose that way. Technically you could have started a Test/Dlo feud but in the AE things were forgotten by the week

My memory maybe skewed, but I remember in 1998 Kai En Tai debuted and attacked Taka Michinoku which started a low-card feud. Then for some reason they were targeting Bradshaw, who then formed a tag team with Michinoku. Michinoku then turned against Bradshaw and joined Kai En Tai. Even at the time I was like WTF?
Also, there was a one time four man team on RAW that involved Owen Hart, Taka Michinoku, and The Headbangers. I forgot who they were facing though.

Taka turned heel against Val Venis... because Val was hitting on Mr. Yamaguchi's wife, who was also Taka's sister. Remember, "CHOPPY-CHOPPY!!!"

When Sabu was fired from ECW right before the Three Way Dance in 1995, Taz (still the Tazmaniac at the time) teamed up for Rick Steiner for some reason.

I distinctly remember 'don't let the tights fool you, Rico is a martial artist and former cop.' ... ... ... ...Cool, wrestling's finished. Why are we still making it? I cackled out loud to myself in an empty room at this one. WHAT?

Rookie Randy Orton had some random ones while they were like trying to figure out what to do with him. I remember him teaming with Mark Henry and Funaki.

Other partners included Val Venis, Faarooq, and a no-gimmick powder blue shorts wearing John Cena. That was during the period when Orton teamed up with someone new each week to fight Reverend D-Von and Deacon Batista, with Team Orton always getting destroyed.

I've been going through some old tapes, and Sabu was teaming with Masa Chono a bunch in 1995 in New Japan. Is there a story behind how Sabu got into New Japan?

The best part of Yang and Moore was when Morrison and Miz mocked them on The Dirt Sheet. One came out dressed like Yang and the other came out dressed like...Yang. Then they started arguing because neither wanted to be Shannon Moore.

And I want to say Bob Holly as well cause he was the rookie feeder The one memory I have of them is Randy getting hit with the Alabama Slam on the stage after a match
