A lot of old time NY baseball fans are going to be happy. Gil Hodges is headed to the hall of fame.

A lot of old time NY baseball fans are going to be happy. Gil Hodges is headed to the hall of fame. He and Minnie Minoso are 2 guys who got in on this committee, that for years I kept thinking were already in. About f***ing time for those 2 and Buck O'Neil.

Well, there is one thing that the BBWAA got right this year. That was giving longtime ESPN contributor Tim Kurkjian its 2022 Career Excellence Award.
Congrats Tom.

Matt Quadro, Buck Showalter and Joe Esapada are the finalist for the Mets manager job
Buck appears to have the lead

Ehhh hopefully, Buck does well
Managing in MLB has taken a downturn in the last few years due to Front Offices being the de facto managers now

As long as Buck is allowed to be Buck as opposed to a puppet for the front office, this is a good hire for the Mets.

Rob Manfred is a thin skinned bozo. I never thought I would wish Bud Selig was Commissioner but here we are.

But Rob Manfred really ain't shit tho Ken does his job well. I haven't watched MLB Network consistently in years but you could fired Harold Reynolds or smug ass Brian Kenny

Cameron Maybin retires
I remember when he was supposed to be an 18 year old phenom. He never turned into a star but he had a long career

Manfred makes Bud Selig look like Fay Vincent.

It's been 12 years since ESPN made the baffling decision to not renew the contracts of Jon Miller and Joe Morgan, and despite six different broadcast booths in the last decade, none will ever be as good as Miller and Morgan were. I'm sure the trio of Karl Ravech, David Cone, and Eduardo Perez will be fine, but ESPN has just been chasing the legacy of its longtime Sunday Night Baseball pairing since 2011. As for the "Kay-Rod" presentation, the problem with an Alex Rodriguez-themed "Manningcast," which is really all this is, is that Peyton and Eli Manning are funny and likeable individuals, whereas Alex Rodriguez is about as inauthentic as they come. He's a carefully-crafted press release given human form.

Def happy for Michael Kay getting that chance with this
I would expect Rucco to call more games this year for Yankees but they have always seemed to be grooming him to be the next voice especially as his career continue to take off

Having been a long-time watcher of Yankees broadcasts on YES, David Cone is an excellent color commentator. One of the best in the game. I love that he's going to get a chance to shine in a national show. And he's still going to do YES games, so it's a win-win.
I wonder if this Kay-A Rod thing will let Kay show more of his personality that he has on TMKS compared to the YES "Voice of the Yankees."

I'd like to see "30-years-ago"Bob Uecker and John Kruk do a "Manningcast" while polishing off an 18 pack of beer.
There was something "magical" when I was a kid about listening to baseball announcers get more and more progressively drunk during a game that was terribly boring without their antics. Half the reason you listened to a shitty ass Cubs game in the 80's was to see how drunk ass Harry was going to kill time between the 7th pitcher change in a 1-0 game late in the 6th inning.
