Are they still planning DLCs for this or are they finally cooking up a new game? I like the idea of updating via DLC, but whoever came up with the pricing was sadly high on crack. They really need a new base game with more modes and replayability They insisted on trying to price the DLC as if it was Tekken. Which makes me wonder if they thought there were going to get actual traction in the FGC with this (the way that WWE All-Stars did for a little while).

Any suggestions as to what studio could take on the engine and make something much better and long-lasting?
A second go would have to come flying out of the blocks: feature complete, a packed roster (if you want to make money later on, release a Legends DLC or something with Sting/Jake/Big Show/Malenko and whoever else they can get), a robust CAW system, and a clear roadmap of what is ahead. Also less predatory practices (ie. people bought super duper Elite editions then discovered they weren't getting certain content in the future). Potentially also use the close relations with CMLL and NJPW to add their wrestlers. AEW vs. The World could even be an expansion-level DLC.
Fight Forever disappointed a lot of AEW fans, not just because it felt undercooked, but because of the DLC practices. So yeah, due diligence is wise and also how to differentiate it from the WWE games without it feeling inferior. Make it Assassin's Creed 2 compared to what Assassin's Creed 1 was, an improvement in every single way. And something people can play for years.

Look, just make a new Def Jam game with some AEW people in it. Have it be both the hip-hop and wrestling worlds colliding. It is that easy.

Next game please give the wrestlers actual entrances longer than 4 seconds. Thank you in advance Tony

Next game please give the wrestlers actual entrances longer than 4 seconds. Thank you in advance Tony they made a lot of weird assumptions that I think just looking at any person that plays wrestling games would have told them was stupid. "no one watches any entrances." "CAW modes isn't that important" "A half cartoonish, half realistic look is a good compromise." That said about taking the engine elsewhere... it's not a bad idea per say... but that is going to add development time for the programmers to learn how it works.

I think the gameplay itself was fun so I’m fine with them keeping the same engine. Everything else you mentioned needs to improve though. I’d love a more Sim type game. I get they’re going for an N64 style game and as much as I love No Mercy and the WCW games let’s leave them there 🙏

CAW and entrances are a big one for me, as well as better textures. The biggest for me though is a GM mode/Universe mode style option(s). No reason to play for me since the thing I look forward to most is making my own shows.

Speeding up the gameplay actively was a detriment to the No Mercy style of controls they went with. Not to mention the "let's not update anything" mindset they apparently had so there are no indicators on ANYTHING, like give ma sign that I have a chance to kick out instead of mashing randomly in a hopeless situation. Not to mention things like Ladder matches in No Mercy were kind've the worst because of the MASH BUTTONS playstyle. No Mercy is fun a lot of parts hold up really well... but there are A LOT of issues because of it being of it's time.

It always felt to me more like a way less polished Day of Reckoning than anything.

Honestly a dream wrestling game for me is just Here comes the Pain with the following additions:
-At least 10 people in the ring -More moves and possitions for moves (like corner and springboard finishers) -More CAW options and slots -Bring back 5 finishers and signatures from FF and steal super finishers from 2k24 -Create a PPV, Create a Match and Create an Arena mode -Actually cage-y cage match -The ability to choose whether you gor for a pin after a move or not -More weapons
I know it sounds like a lot but it's all stuff that's been done already. I think it's viable with the right team.

I don't know about developer because a lot of the issues that plagued development with the first game probably won't be as big an issue since they could just refine the FF engine instead of making a new one from scratch. But they absolutely need to find a new publisher. THQ/Embracer was terrible.

they need to embrace ROH with this next game too. Hell I wouldn't mind seeing a Showcase-esque mode too with ROH arenas, attires, and older AEW assets being used too.

It always felt to me more like a way less polished Day of Reckoning than anything. God I wish. Day of Reckoning rules. They should make it more insane like DoR or even Wrestling Revolution or something where people lose limbs and die in story mode.

I’m way late to the party but I got fight forever ages ago, played a few 1 vs 1 matches with my daughter and thought it was decent then saw the consensus develop about how it’s not even theat and thought people were being harsh but having played through 3/4s of road to elite I have to say that people are too nice on it lol
Road to Elite is trash. First I’m teaming with Dustin Rhodes, win the tag titles and then boom storyline is dropped and literally a few weeks later I’m teaming with Pac against Dustin with no mention of the tag titles
Then I’m in a 1 vs 1 match against him at the PPV with DQs etc and Penta & Fenix come down to turn in into a 3 on 1 with Aubrey just watching it all go the f*** down. I then figured maybe it’s a no rules match after all, grab a weapon and after a few hits with it I get DQed
I feel like Stu in the hangover “What the f*** is happening!”
Then for the last block randomly thrown into gauntlet matches for several weeks after several female wrestlers seemingly given the power to book matches and have a grudge against me for no reason which leads to me getting a title shot in a fatal four way
Just feels like 4 completely separate (poorly written) stories rather than a wrestlers journey
Only high spot was fighting the shadow self doubt version of myself. That’s the sort of stuff that’s enjoyable silly at least

Honestly it got moved to my external hard harddrive already, just felt unfinished and like it wasn't just missing a good CAW mode but community creations too
