I always play as a soldier, but I think I'm going to try engineer even though I'm sure I will get my teeth kicked in. I find Vanguard and Infiltrator are a lot of fun, too. Moreso in ME2 and 3 with the new gameplay gimmicks they get.

I pretty much always play Infiltrator.
Tactical Cloak in ME2 and ME3 are fun additions.

I played soldier on my original run, sentinel during all my subsequent runs and infiltrator during the legendary run. I found myself not really using the biotic powers very much this time around and I’m best with a sniper rifle, so I made the switch.

Those Banshees were abusing me even with all the guns in the world, so I don't know how other classes will help, but I am ready for something different.

Played through Mass Effect 1 and 2 as Vanguard, and currently playing 3 as an Adept.
I’m honestly surprised to see so many players using the Soldier class.

Soldier class suits me most in ME1 as I much prefer weapons over powers, particularly assault rifles. In ME2 and 3 I switch to Vanguard so I can use the shockwave and flare powers.

I’ve always been soldier.
Do you map biotic and tech skills to buttons or do you have to use the skill wheel every time?

I’ve always been soldier. Do you map biotic and tech skills to buttons or do you have to use the skill wheel every time? I do map them, but I use the skill wheel 95% of the time, as I use it to get my bearings in the heat of battle.

My squad mates seem to usually take care of any of that for me.

finished the Leviathan DLC missions tonight... I ... honestly don't remember this at all.
Or really the Omega mission...
I am beginning to think I beat the game and then never went back and did the DLC after it was released...
I did see the "directors cut ending" I beat it about the time it came out... so I tried it first without then tried with... so I could compare and...yeah they aren't that different. Though a little more is at least explained in the DC.

I'm not surprised about Soldier being the most popular class. It's the most straightforward class, the one that's sort of the "default" choice, and also probably the most appealing for people who came to the series wanting to play more of a shooter than an RPG.

See I tend to play as Soldier, but only because the Soldier style characters in me2 and me3 are the least interesting to me. I like Grunt, Grunt and Zaaed, but I'd much rather take characters like Tali, Garrus Samara, EDI who cover the tech and biotic aspects.
Inhave done one run through as a vanguards, but never made use of the powers as much as I should've. I really should do an infiltrator run at some point.

With the whole shields/armor/barrier approach taken in ME2 and 3, it becomes a lot less about having a balance between tech, biotics, and combat and more about taking who can exploit which defenses or enemy type with their weapons, ammo types, or powers. ME1 needs the more balanced approach, especially with unlocking stuff being tied to skill levels of your teammates if you don't take Engineer, Sentinel, or Infiltrator. But ME2 and 3 are a lot more situational depending on the missions and preference.

Like ME3 really should've had a final boss that did that.
Or a final boss at all.
