A really good look on just how much they cut out of an already classic film.

As someone who started to watch Hats Off recently, the fact Steve Martin did a tweet about this made me happy. He’s growing to be one of my favourites with the topics he gets.

I stumbled on this channel last month, and I love it. He's probably the only other guy that knows Brain Donors exists, much less appreciates it.

I like the Forgotten Failures videos as well. They aren't angry, shouty or attacks on the product itself, but a good examination as to why they didn't work, usually giving whatever praise can be given, or in the case of the Three Stooges movie, trying to show the value of the film while showing why it failed.

I like Hats Off Munsters and Addams Family videos.
About an extended Planes Trains and Automobiles. I would definitely watch and probably buy it in physical medium. But I think my preference would still be the theatrical. The ending was perfect and it being a little longer with more sad exposition from the script wouldn't work as well.

Thanks for posting this. I would love to see the lost footage and it was great seeing the parts shown. I do think though these scenes don't have a major bearing on the final screen/dvd version. The cut parts shown are good but I think ultimately the parts that follow don't really need them. The version we've known for 33 years puts everything together. Still, as a huge fan of the movie it would be fun to see it all in one show.
Edit: The lost footage probably doesn't allow Del to be the sympathetic character. Neil may have been an uptight jerk but even the nicest of human's would have tired of Del at some point, even early on.
Also this needs to be played on Thanksgiving. If Christmas Story is played 24 hours on Christmas, P T A needs to be on Thanksgiving or even just once. I wonder if anyone watches Christmas Story more than once on the day. I liked it the first few years I saw it but after a while it's run it's course. It's a dated movie, obviously set in a time even earlier than it was produced while P T A can literally be in any era.

Edited my first post as the more I think about it, the more I think a Smith/Hart version might be enjoyable just to see on the big screen. I usually dislike even the thought of remakes but if the actor is talented enough, it can be done right. Smith is to the point where I see him as a serious drama star and Hart may be a little too funny for the Del role but if the original script is stuck to, this could be really good.

I really wish Chris Farley would have lived long enough to do the Arbuckle biopic that was his dream project. We only ever saw brief glimpses of him doing drama, but I think he'd have killed it and his portrayal would have been really acclaimed.

I really wish Chris Farley would have lived long enough to do the Arbuckle biopic that was his dream project. John Candy was also almost cast in a Fatty Arbuckle biopic as well before his death. It seems like a very cursed role to try and take with every attempt at making a movie about Fatty Arbuckle ending with some sort of tragedy.

The cut subplot with Neal's wife actually adds a huge amount and I wish they'd kept it. The audience knows that there's an external, tangible way Neal will be rewarded if he ends up being kind to Dell. It shows his prickliness has already had consequences, in ways he isn't even aware of, and so his decision at the end feels much more powerful as a turning point for him and his family.

Updating this as there's a new Hats Off video looking at Fatty Arbuckle I more enjoyed his little "cool" act than his falling all over himself physical comedy. Like his move with the cane, and his lighting a match off a passing train.
