They cut our employee discount on food from 50% to 25%. Easy way to save money because I’m not paying more when our quality of food is getting worse. We don’t even shred our own cheese now and the quality of the bagged cheese is trash. Don’t even get 50% off if we’re at work which other stores get.

Ah, the Pizza Hut strategy, I see. I’ve worked for this chain for almost two decades. Irritates the piss out of me that they’re cutting back on benefits when we’re running on like a third of the staff anyways company wide. They’re doing this shit because they cut prices across the menu and they want to save their own money by keeping what we pay near what it was before prices went down. Told the kitchen manager I’m not paying more money just to get f***ing diarrhea. Taco Bell is safer at his point haha.

I get that places can't just give everything away for free, but seeing how much food gets thrown away at the end of the day at a resturaunt you'd think most of them could just feed their employees while they are on duty.

I don’t know how most of these places still operate, but at my first restaurant job as a busboy, the chefs made a hot buffet for the staff for lunch and dinner. When I worked at the Sheraton they did it buffet style at lunch and if you worked dinner you got one of 5 items off the menu to get for dinner. All I know is we used to make almost everything fresh daily since we weren’t open for lunch. We started opening for lunch to up profit because “stockholders”. Now we have almost everything prepare and sent to us...including croutons out of a box and bagged cheese. We still have something hanging on the wall bragging about our hand made croutons.

I hate stories like this. I think any large company should pay their employees fairly.
I work for Home Depot and have been there for almost 8 years. The management style allows for a very enjoyable work environment but this year along we saw an extra raise (on top of our anniversary raise) but also a weekly covid bonus on top of the large profit sharing we got recently. I don't expect this to be as good next year but it does make me very happy to be here year after year.
