I’d never played a Final Fantasy until this year. I beat both 7 and the remake and played some decent chunks of 8 and 6 (I’ve been scatter brained this year so I’ve been taking long breaks in between playing them). I keep hearing good things about 14 and was wondering if it was newcomer friendly. I’m not expecting it to have the combat system of any of the one’s I’ve played so I don’t mind if it’s very different. I’ve just never played an MMO and I’m wondering if I’ll be completely in over my head.

Thanks! I signed up for the free trial earlier today. Oof, this game is A LOT for me. I haven’t done any quests yet, just got through the intro and tutorial just to get me in right in the game next time I play. I’ll try to stick with it cuz I heard it’s got a really good story.

I haven't played in a couple years, but the news coming from the game sounds fun. I remember a long ass quest chain you had to complete to get to the second expansion and apparently they did away with requiring completion of that. It's a good community over there or was at least when I was playing. I always enjoyed that your character could just switch class without starting a completing new character. There's a certain quest chain with a crazy ass detective that is weird and so Japanese, but it's fun if a little long.
