The WMX Ladder Match. Classic, yes, but it was on EVERY OTHER DVD. The Shawn/Mankind match became this too, as did Savage/Steamboat. On the subject of Savage and Steamboat, I remember Jericho from newLEGACYinc putting it best; everyone always wanted to be Savage. I don't think was a single unironic person who went "Ricky Steamboat was way cooler and I want to be like him" when they emulated that match on playgrounds or roleplaying on the internet. And that's my main gripe. Feels like everyone only remembers that match for one man only. Heck, George Steele is non-existent in retrospectives.

Inspired by the latest OSW video (which has apparently been removed in the time it took me to watch it...) in which Mr. OOC counts down the moments he's sick of seeing played over and over again either by WWE or by other youtubers/podcasters, I thought I'd see what everyone here never wants to see or hear about ever again due to overexposure, becoming overused memes, or because you're sick of wrestling companies constantly trying to recreate them. Just a short list from off the top of my head... 1. Foley thrown off the cell. I would like to just put the entire Attitude Era all together here, but that's not what this list is for, so since this moment is pretty much the definitive moment of that era, I'll just go with that. It was amazing and game-changing back then, but knowing what kind of shape Foley is in today because of taking stupidly dangerous and highly damaging bumps like that makes it so much harder to watch. And that's not getting into all the idiots he inspired to take similar bumps over the next twenty years in the hopes of becoming as famous as he is... 2. Austin passing out to the Sharpshooter. Arguably, the moment that legitimized Stone Cold even more than the Austin 3:16 promo, seeing him screaming in pain with blood running from his head and into his mouth is an unforgettable moment, but it also is the reason why more than twenty years later we still have babyfaces who would rather pass out than tap out because it supposedly makes them more badass when, in reality, it just makes them look stupid. 3. HBK's almost elimination from the 95 Rumble. Another example of something that was cool once, but wrestling companies just can't stop going back to. How many times have we had to see a battle royal where it looks like someone has won, but then someone else who has been hiding on the outside sneaks back in to eliminate them? It's happened at least twice just this year: MJF in AEW at the beginning of the year, and Miz earlier this week at Survivor Series. 4. The DX Tank. It was a jeep, and nobody would even remember it if WWE wouldn't keep bringing it up. 5. The Fingerpoke of Doom I don't care if it helped kill the company or not, it's been analyzed and theorized to death by every wrestling fan ever[/hyperbole]. I'll throw in a quick ditto for The Montreal Screwjob for the same reason. Honorable Mention: WWE fan reactions. Angry Miz Girl, Shocked Undertaker Fan, etc. Funny once or twice, successively less funny with each consecutive use. 2. 100%. What the revisionist history keeps on repeating is the Bret was massively hated already at this point. Not true. Listen to the pops he gets even when he becomes a "cry baby" by December 1996. He got a huge pop when he eliminated Austin at the Rumble. A big pop when he became a 4 time champion. He got a huge pop March 17th Raw before he "snapped" and he got a huge pop when we won and defeated Austin at Mania 13. Bret had to do something literally heel like, beating the guy up, after the match was over, to get REAL boos.

And that's my main gripe. Feels like everyone only remembers that match for one man only. Heck, George Steele is non-existent in retrospectives. In retrospect, Steamboat/Savage? Classic feud. So was Flair/Steamboat. I know Ricky was supposed to be the white meat babyface we were supposed to sympathize with, but darned if his opponents weren't all cooler. It worked a little better with Savage cause after all, he tried to kill him. And 10 year old me did want to see him get revenge, of course. The Flair feud is where you really saw the weaknesses, and I hate to stereotype wrestling fans, but how many of them cared about their heroes having strong family values when you could be the insanely rich Nature Boy who got women and luxuries wherever he went? I mean, I was pre-smark back then of course and hated that Flair kept getting the title back no matter who beat him, and wanted to see Steamboat finish his title run(s) once and for all. (Off-topic, but that's one area '80s WWF had it all over JCP....their heel champions usually stayed defeated. They got their title run, the babyface beat them, and that was that. Rinse, repeat)

3:16 made Austin a star over night. No it didn't.

Shawn throwing Janetty through the barbershop window. Well, we wouldn't have to worry about that had Marty not been such a coward!

Shawn throwing Janetty through the barbershop window. I think we're the only ones on this forum that reference this in the wrestling lexicon.

What culture/ cultoholic lists that just recycle the same things over and over again "hey did you know that Warrior held Vince up for money? What do you mean I told you last week?"

The DX Tank/Jeep *was* a big deal. Not a huge deal, not a game-changing deal, not a life-altering deal, not an Austin-level deal, but a fairly big deal. Though I would say in terms of MNW impact just among DX moments, it's behind X-Pac's debut and his telling off of Hogan. That felt big--a "cool" WCW guy telling their #1 star in public (if you weeell) that he sucked. Yeah, anyone who was a kid/teenager at the time knows how big DX were. Not so much the original line-up with Shawn but post Wrestlemania 14 with HHH/Chyna/X-Pac/Outlaws. I don't know a single friend who didn't get into trouble from a teacher or parent for telling them to suck it haha. As lame as it looks in video clips now that WCW "invasion" was hilarious at the time. I still remember the next day in school us all talking about what would have happened if they got into the building. If you could pinpoint an exact moment when WCW/NWO stopped being "cool" and WWF became the hot thing I think that's definitely one of them. I know Goldberg came during/after that point but where I'm from anyway a lot of us looked down on him as a bootleg Stone Cold. All we cared about now where Austin/DX/Sable.

Madusa throwing the WWF women’s belt in the trash. It is noteworthy as it’s a shot against the competition, but it’s not like WCW had a very active women’s championship to rub in Vince’s face. Whatever they did was very short term

Whatever they did was very short term It's probably talked about more now because she did the HOF induction and took the title from the trash can. Everyone has a price. For Eric back then and for Vince anytime Eric didn't pay them more.

Yeah Shockmaster and I’ll add the Yeti. I’ve seen that clip of Hogan getting mummy humped so many times it’s not even funny anymore.

I think most of the Attitude Era/Monday Night War moments have been overplayed. I still like watching the original broadcasts of that stuff, but seeing them in documentaries accompanied usually by revisionist history is tiresome though.
I never seem to get tired of seeing anything from the Hogan Era though. Not sure why but it still feels fresh all these years later.
